Sustainable water management in village and city possible with Infiltration Trench

Introduction during Trade Fair Climate on Nov. 21

Heavy rainfall and prolonged periods of drought require sustainable water management. In villages and cities, all buildings limit the possibilities for sustainable and efficient water management. This is precisely why ACO developed the Infiltration Gutter. ACO introduces this innovative Infiltration Gutter during the Climate Trade Fair on November 21.

In inner-city areas, rainwater cannot always be drained to wadis due to buildings and pavement. Moreover, the cables, pipes and high groundwater levels present require shallow infiltration solutions. The ACO Infiltration gutter then offers a solution. The Infiltration Gutter collects rainwater and infiltrates it locally, high on the surface, into the soil. This prevents the soil from drying out and relieves the sewerage system. The shallow installation depth has the added advantage of reducing construction costs.

Straight into the ground

Based on the design requirements and the permeability of the soil, lower outlets were installed in the Infiltration Trench, through which the collected rainwater is discharged to so-called infiltration wicks. These wicks made of environmentally friendly and sustainable stone wool infiltrate the rainwater into the soil and release it into the subsoil. In the short term, this relieves the sewerage system and in the longer term prevents the soil from drying out.

Fast and possible in any design

Thanks to its unique construction, the Infiltration Chute requires only a load-bearing subsoil with sufficient water permeability. No concrete foundation or further lateral backfilling with concrete is required. This provides significant time savings in processing. Thanks to special sections, this channel effortlessly follows all radii in the pavement, and thanks to the various grating covers, this infiltration channel fits into any design.
