ACO introduces Sustainable Urban Drainage System at InfraRelationDays Hardenberg

Climate change calls for sustainable water management

New solutions for a climate-proof Netherlands

Due to climate change, we in the Netherlands are increasingly facing peak rainfall and longer periods of drought. The resulting flooding and water shortages make good line drainage systems, infiltration systems and infiltration gutters increasingly important. Because with them we can make our land water resistant, provide cooling on hot days and water plants without wasting precious drinking water. With this in mind, ACO has developed a new concept and a number of (re)new products.

Sustainable Urban Drainage System concept

Because desiccation of green space in urban areas is as big an issue as water storage, ACO has developed the Sustainable Urban Drainage System (D-SAS) concept. This concept combines drainage, storage and the return of rainwater to nearby green spaces.

To enable D-SAS, ACO has several solutions that keep trees and shrubs green and relieve the sewer system during heavy precipitation. Besides a complete range of infiltration crates in different heights, which in combination with the ACO RainBloxx form a hybrid system, ACO has also recently developed the Infiltration Chute.

Infiltration gutter

In inner-city areas, rainwater cannot always be drained to wadis due to buildings and pavement. Moreover, the cables, pipes and high groundwater levels present require shallow infiltration solutions.

ACO's innovative patented Infiltration Chute captures rainwater, cleans it and infiltrates it high to the surface in the immediate vicinity. This prevents the soil from drying out and relieves the sewerage system. The low installation depth has the additional advantage of reducing construction costs. Thanks to the friendly and shallow installation method, any inner-city area can now be made more climate-proof.

CO2 friendly infiltration- and salvage system

Capturing large amounts of water can be done with the unique and patented ACO Stormbrixx. This is a CO2 friendly infiltration and storage system for applications in inner-city and heavy traffic areas. The proven system of stackable plastic elements can buffer and infiltrate large volumes of water. Characteristic advantages of the lightweight and stackable Stormbrixx are minimal transport costs and significantly less handling at the construction site.

Even more novelties

During the InfraRelatieDagen in Hardenberg, ACO will also show a new sustainable line drainage system for areas with heavy and intensive traffic loads. They will also present a new sustainable KerbDrain®, a sidewalk strip and drainage system in one, which ensures fast drainage of traffic circles and bus stops, for example.
