Industrial services for the infrastructure sector

As part of the globally operating Muehlhan Group, Muehlhan Nederland has developed over the past 55 years into a highly versatile player in the construction, (petrochemical) industry, offshore, maritime, and civil engineering sectors. Operating out of Vlaardingen, the Industrial Services division in particular offers the infrastructure sector a range of disciplines that are increasingly being deployed in an integrated manner.

While steel preservation has traditionally been the core business of the 140-year-old Muehlhan Group, the range of services has expanded considerably in recent decades. This also applies to Muehlhan Nederland, which has around 60 employees. “We offer a diverse range of services across the board,” says commercial manager René Linders. “In addition to steel preservation, we focus on scaffolding and rope access, which is an excellent alternative when scaffolding is not possible or undesirable from a cost perspective. We also apply insulation and fire-resistant coatings. The first three disciplines are particularly interesting for the infrastructure sector, either as separate activities or, increasingly, in combination.”

Combination

Muehlhan Nederland has an impressive track record in the world of civil engineering. When it comes to scaffolding, the company has recently been involved in the construction of two large sea locks in IJmuiden and Terneuzen, the construction of the new highway between the A13 and A16 near Rotterdam (De Groene Boog), and maintenance on the Galecopper Bridge near Utrecht. ‘Scaffolding is an activity that we are increasingly trying to combine with another of our specialties, namely the preservation of various steel structures,’ Linders continues. “To this end, we have two very spacious blasting and spraying sheds in Schiedam, each measuring 800 square meters and 10 meters high. Located in deep water, we can load and unload smaller, but also larger components there.”
