Specialist in the field of (deep) foundations

Ready for the future

With already a wonderful history and a lot of experience, Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten, part of the Fundexgroup, is the specialist in soil displacement, vibration-free techniques. The company invests heavily in the sustainability of the equipment and is involved in the most diverse projects throughout the country, but also far beyond. In the foundation field, the company is most certainly a specialist and its ambition remains very high.

"We will be able to celebrate our 70th anniversary in 2023 as a foundation contractor and as a company we even exist 120 years," begins Davy Maes, general manager of Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten. "Over the years we have continued to improve our products such as the Fundex and Tubex piles and are seen in the market as the specialist in the field of vibration-free (deep) foundations for many structures, but certainly also in high-rise buildings. Our products give a very high load-bearing capacity, result in excellent load-setting behavior and, combined with a financially attractive picture, are therefore extremely suitable for this type of construction."

State-of-the-art equipment

According to Maes, Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten has state-of-the-art equipment operated by experienced personnel in possession of all relevant training and certificates. "For example, we have five new generation Fundex F3500 machines in our possession and this year we even purchased a new Fundex F4800. The latter can make piles with a length of at least 40 meters. We are going to do that from January 2023 in Breskens. Here we will install almost 400 energy piles for a new apartment complex in the harbor."

We see many (main) contractors, as well as developers and consulting firms coming back very regularly with new projects and related requests for advice, notes Maes. "Delivering quality, being involved from the beginning and providing clients with good advice is a perk in taking on and executing works of importance. An example of this is project Berghaus in Amsterdam where we are installing almost 900 Fundex combi piles with two machines. These Fundex combi piles, which we have been making since 1976, are realized here in a diameter of 850mm in combination with precast concrete elements of 350x350mm. A big job we are performing for BAM."

Sustainability and circularity

Sustainability is high on the agenda at Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten and is shaped by low-emission equipment. "In addition, together with suppliers we look for savings and/or reuse of materials. We will certainly make great strides in this in the coming years," Maes promises. "Continuous improvement and innovations of existing and new techniques has given us a leading position in the market that we are very keen to maintain." To be continued, then!
