Foundation without emissions
A strong foundation is not only the physical basis of a building or infrastructure, but also the foundation of trust between partners. From Oostburg puts Funderingstechnieken Verstraeten B.V. (Fundex) for over 75 years its knowledge, skill and innovation drive in a variety of projects: from residential and commercial buildings to bridges, wind farms and urban development.
The construction industry needs to work faster, smarter and greener. Fundex is leading the way in this with modern machinery in which electric equipment is increasingly becoming the norm. The all-electric F4800E and CD20E make emission-free work possible, even in busy urban areas or environmentally sensitive areas. “Sustainable working is not a separate strategy for us, but the standard,” says Davy Maes, general manager. “It's in every choice we make, from machinery to the approach on a construction site.”
Blaak 333 in Rotterdam was partially realized on the existing foundation. That meant less use of materials, less transport and a shorter lead time - without sacrificing quality or stability.
In Leiden, the Nexus project got a first with the deployment of the F4800E, the first fully electric drilling rig. Together with Dura Vermeer and Greener, Fundex took an important step towards zero-emission foundation work here.
The team also contributed to leading high-rise projects in Amsterdam, Eindhoven and The Hague, where tight coordination of logistics, safety and planning was crucial.

Projects in densely built-up areas require precision and cooperation. Fundex coordinates work with other parties on the site, limits nuisance for local residents and uses noise and emission reducing techniques. In the coming years Fundex will continue to invest in emission-free work, digitization and international cooperation. From Oostburg (and from Belgium) to the heart of major cities: the goal remains unchanged - to lay solid, sustainable foundations on which the future can be built.
Sustainability at Fundex goes hand in hand with innovation. That means not only new machines, but also new ways of working. By thinking along already in the design phase, technical challenges can be turned into efficient solutions. “We don't just want to build what's on paper, but add value,” Maes said.
Fundex believes that the best results come from collaboration. Sharing knowledge and experience with contractors, engineers and clients creates a working method where safety, quality and efficiency go hand in hand.
