A beautiful statement by Gerard Bos, owner and director at Gerard Bos Machineverhuur BV. This statement is further confirmed by the fact that Gerard Bos can regularly be found on the machine himself. After all, blood is thicker than water.
"We are currently working in IJmuiden on the underwater removal of a CB wall," Gerard opens the conversation. "One of our previous assignments was the underwater excavation of a lock in Belgium. At the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen, we recently excavated the second phase pipe piles to a depth of 16.5 meters, using our longreach crane with extended grab. But we can go even deeper."
At 23, Gerard started his business, and he finds the work as enjoyable and special today as it was then. "Our specialization in underwater work is a hobby that got out of hand. We find it empowering to do separate work, with our expertise. This is also the reason why the crane has never let go of me. Being regularly on the trades yourself keeps you in touch with the industry. We work with our own, well-trained people for whom the machines hold no secrets. Only in this way can we guarantee consistent quality and really distinguish ourselves."
Gerard invests heavily in equipment and machinery that meets the latest environmental and safety standards. "This has to be optimal, it is the operator's living room. We have VCA** since 1996 and have level 3 on the CO2 performance ladder. Our motto in everything we do is 'making a difference'. You can see that both literally and figuratively," Gerard concludes.
