Genap BV has been working hard since 1951 with the design, production and installation of foil constructions and foil applications. Genap does this in gardening and agriculture and for projects in civil engineering. Dick van Regteren has been the owner and director of Genap since 2007 and talks enthusiastically about his company: "From our location in 's-Heerenberg, we work with no fewer than 100 employees on our foil solutions. And we have everything under one roof, including our own laboratory and design office."
Genap focuses on the application of plastic films in projects for the storage and separation of liquids, especially water. Van Regteren explains: "In the Netherlands, we work on many large civil engineering projects. Think, for example, of covering landfills with our plastic films or constructing film structures in road construction to keep groundwater away."
Genap's plastic films form an artificial barrier, so to speak. "Because where there is no natural barrier for the storage or separation of (liquid) substances, you have to come up with another solution. In this way, we have already completed many beautiful, leading projects. A great example is a project we ran at the largest landfill in the Netherlands. At the Derde Merwedehaven in Dordrecht, we applied various types of plastic films and drainage mats to achieve the final finish."
Genap can apply foil structures in both dry and wet conditions. This is unique in the Netherlands. "In a wet construction pit, we can sink not only geotextiles and plastic films but also bentonite mats in a controlled manner. This creates an artificial barrier between water and soil. Or dirty and clean liquids. For example, we were commissioned by Van den Herik Kust en Oeverwerken to install a foil construction that serves as a separation barrier in a reservoir for the production of drinking water."
At Genap, they always look at the client's request. What is the exact request and what solution fits it? "Of course we work with regular suppliers, but we look at each project to see where the need lies and respond accordingly. After all, you shouldn't start from one product, but from the best fitting solution for the client." But sustainability is also important at Genap. That is why the company uses sustainable products that have a long lifespan as much as possible. "This is how we prevent the further spread of microplastics and pollution. We also work closely with certified institutions to ensure the assurance of sustainable products in the chain as well."
