New foundation material completes sustainability circle

Everything hinges on maintaining a leading market position in sustainability in 2022. The most current proof is the introduction of Optiblend^®, an innovative, versatile and responsible circular foundation material developed together with raw material producer Heros Sluiskil.

With the durable Optiblend^® Van de Beeten and Heros complete the circle. "In addition to water and cement, this product consists of high-quality secondary residues," says Linda Blommaert, marketing and communications manager within Heros Sluiskil. "At the same time, Optiblend is^® perfectly suitable for reuse. As a result, this invention fits seamlessly with the wish pattern of construction and civil engineering companies that increasingly wish to realize their projects with fewer primary raw materials and materials. With Granova^® of Heros as raw material and Optiblend^® as a finished product, we are specifically capitalizing on this trend."

But it doesn't stop there. As an alternative to traditional foundation material, Optiblend offers^® namely many more advantages. "First of all, it is extremely strong and represents a high load-bearing capacity," explains Niels Schellekens, business manager on behalf of Van de Beeten. "As a result, the thickness of pavement layers and concrete floors can be significantly reduced, allowing users to use Optiblend^® also experienced in their wallets. Furthermore, it is suitable for absorbing compressive and tensile strength in less load-bearing substrates. So driving slabs are hardly needed during the construction phase."

"You can think of roads, business and parking lots, bicycle paths, embankments, industrial halls and floor pavements in logistics centers," Schellekens lists.
