If there is one sector that can and must provide the solutions to the challenges we face in 2022, it is the infrastructure sector. Growing shortage of space, a nitrogen crisis, the energy transition, climate adaptation, new forms of mobility, overdue maintenance of crucial engineering structures, lack of raw materials and personnel, not to mention the accelerating pace of digitalization. They all require smart and innovative answers. And not only in 10, 20 or 30 years, but now. It is Time to Move Forward!
After a challenging but successful digital version of InfraTech in 2021, it is high time for the entire industry to 'just meet in person' again in 2023. Because ultimately that is the strength of InfraTech: meeting, acquiring new knowledge, sharing and networking. So that together we can ensure that the Dutch infrastructure sector not only remains one of the best in the world, but also the breeding ground for solutions and innovations that keep our world liveable and accessible. InfraTech as the driving force behind the sector's most important transitions.
For 27 years, InfraTech has contributed to cooperation between government and industry and to mutual understanding between clients and contractors. This makes InfraTech the most important meeting place between the public and private sectors. The objective of the exhibition: to provide a platform for Dutch infrastructure professionals from the entire chain. Sharing knowledge, collaboration and connecting
are key words!
Working together across the chain on societal challenges. Rarely has the need for chain-wide renewal, innovation and ensuring the right scale for those changes been as great as now. Rarely has the need for cooperation between clients and the market, between public and private, been so emphatic. How do we ensure together that successes lead to lasting change and implementation of new practices? By sharing and evaluating both successes and failures. And then moving on. InfraTech offers the ultimate platform for this, both live and digital.
Platform for innovation and talent. The market is crying out for well-qualified young personnel. The industry is aging with old knowledge leaking away and new knowledge not finding its way to the shop floor fast enough. InfraTech 2023 is therefore integrating InfraExperience into the platform concept. Recruiters from InfraTech exhibitors will give an insight into the various career opportunities in the industry.
In 2023, there will be even more focus on innovation. The InfraTech Innovation Awards are again divided into three categories: product innovations, process innovations and innovative forms of cooperation. The aim of the prestigious awards is to find attractive 'showcases' that can be used in publications and showcase the innovative power and cooperation in the infrastructure sector. This edition pays extra attention to sustainable innovation.
In 2023, InfraTech will offer even more space and an inspiring knowledge program for visitors from the public sector.
The goal is to make it a meeting and inspiration place for local administrators as well. There is even more room for interaction between the various knowledge plazas, which means that more meetings between client and contractor will take place on the exhibition floor. These encounters are crucial for collaborations with which the necessary changes in the infrastructure sector can be realized.
Circular, climate- and energy-neutral and sustainable: these are the three key concepts that will take precedence in the coming decades. We are depleting the earth, causing climate change and making our earth unlivable. The infrastructure sector can be at the base of a roadmap to new ways.
InfraTech 2023 - together with home base Rotterdam Ahoy and hosts Rijkswaterstaat and the municipality of Rotterdam - is also taking up the gauntlet: the 15th edition of InfraTech will be the most sustainable in its 27-year history! We are using less plastic, buying more sustainably and separating waste.
The digital InfraTech Network Platform, launched in 2021, will have a role again. This will allow visitors and participants to make relevant matches in advance, schedule physical and digital appointments and optimally plan their trade fair participation.
The exhibition floor of InfraTech is divided into several themes, each representing a segment within infrastructure. In hall 1 the theme Infra is central, in halls 2 and 4 this is Water & Sewerage, in hall 5 Public Space & Mobility and in
hall 6 Infra & Innovation.
Roads, bridges, overpasses, locks, tunnels, bike paths, the sidewalk. But also the underground infrastructure of cables and
pipelines, waterways and even the air. Topics that will be addressed here - and during the framing knowledge program - include maintenance, reuse, zero-emission work, sustainability, circularity, climate adaptation, digitization, smart mobility and much more.
The floods in the summer of 2021 showed that it is not only the rise in sea level that is troubling our low-lying country: the water is also coming from the other side. And ironically, at the same time, dehydration and land subsidence are playing tricks on us. Our sewers are not yet designed for the new era. The climate challenges call for creative and innovative ideas and solutions.
Innovation has been the most important element of InfraTech for almost 30 years. Not for nothing does the number of entries for the prestigious InfraTech Innovation Award continue to grow every two years. Innovation is perhaps the trade show's most important right to exist. It has brought our sector to where we have been for years: at the global top.
One million houses will be added in the Netherlands in the next 10 years. And all those houses must be accessible to their residents. Not for nothing is the government putting 7.5 billion euros into the mobility fund. The money is intended for new roads, ov-connections and bicycle paths. The corona pandemic has changed how we live and work. And that will have repercussions on the design of public
space. The changing climate requires climate-resilient design.
What solutions do you have for the biggest social issues of our time? These should not be missing during InfraTech 2023!
