Volvo Trucks has received an order for another 100 electric trucks from logistics company DFDS. This doubles the number of electric Volvo trucks in DFDS' fleet to 225 trucks in total - the largest fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe.
DFDS, Northern Europe's largest shipping and logistics company, is seeing a growing demand for transportation solutions that have a lower environmental impact. Therefore, the company has placed another order for 100 electric trucks from Volvo. Previously, DFDS purchased a total of 125 heavy-duty electric Volvo trucks.
Currently, 95 of them are operational in Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belgium and the Netherlands, and the remaining 30 will be delivered during 2024. Thanks to the growth in the number of electric trucks in the fleet, DFDS will have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 1,516 tons by the end of 2023 (well-to-wheel, source: DFDS).

"I am very proud to continue our close cooperation with DFDS. This order for another hundred Volvo electric trucks is a testament to their confidence in our company. The large increase in DFDS' electric truck fleet shows that zero-emission transport is a viable solution here and now," said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.
The new electric trucks will be deployed in nine markets in Europe, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden. They are the recently updated and more energy-efficient Volvo FH Electric and FM Electric models.
DFDS currently has the largest fleet of heavy electric trucks in Europe and is well on its way to meeting the goal of having at least 25 percent of its fleet electrified by 2030.
"We want to encourage the transition to more sustainable road transport. Our growing fleet of electric trucks will not only help reduce the climate impact of our operations. It will also enable DFDS to support more companies looking to decarbonize their supply chains. This new order underlines our commitment to continue the development," said Niklas Anderson, EVP, Logistic Division at DFDS.

Some of the new electric trucks will be used to transport goods to and from Volvo Trucks' assembly plant in Gothenburg.
Since 2019, Volvo Trucks has delivered electric trucks to customers in 45 countries on six continents. Volvo currently offers the broadest product line in the industry with eight electric models suitable for a wide variety of transportation tasks in and between cities.
