Part of the dike reinforcement project between Tiel and Waardenburg is the construction of a new section of dike in the floodplain. To prevent silt from flowing to this location, G.M. Damsteegt has dredged 16,000 m3 bagger moved.
G.M. Damsteegt is the rental specialist of machines and floating equipment in earthworks, road and hydraulic engineering, recycling and suction technology. "Our rental fleet is very diverse and ranges from a 500-kilogram crane to 40-tonners and from hopper barges and suction trucks to bulldozers, wheel loaders, screens and shredders. And recently we also have an electric pusher in operation," says Jacco den Besten. "With a rental fleet of more than 400 machines, a wide range of attachments, our own depot, transport equipment, flatbed trailers and our own workshop, we always offer a solution."
Construction combination Mekante Diek, consisting of Ploegam, van Oord and Dura Vermeer, needed the expertise of G.M, Damsteegt to dredge a section of floodplain. "In order to build a stable dike in the floodplain, we moved over 16,000 m3 of dredging in the section in front of the future dike body. And we did so in the water with our dredge pusher, with which we bulldozed the silt within reach of the construction crew's Long Reach cranes. The silt was then scooped up and removed to an approved processor," Jacco explains. "A job like this is right up our alley. Thanks to our specialized rental fleet, we are often used for specific jobs. It is possible that we will be used for other tasks on this wonderful project in the future."
