Sifting operations: from sifting out ammunition to separating silver papers on bottle necks

Anyone responsible for planning in earthworks or hydraulic engineering knows that renting a screening plant is often agony. So does Rien van Laarhoven, owner of Zeefverhuur.nl. For years he worked as a contractor: "Renting a crane or some trucks was no problem. Just a phone call and it was arranged. But if I needed a sifting machine, I had to wait a tremendously long time for it. This was one of the reasons for me to start my own rental company in 2005."  

The company has since built up a suitable solution for every situation and an established clientele. The screening installations are used, among other things, for recycling asphalt, separating dumped construction waste and screening contaminated biomass.

Advantage renting

"Renting a shaker or drum screener is often more economical on net than purchasing one. Partly because of maintenance and repair costs. Moreover, many companies suffer from a shortage of personnel to perform this work. That is why we also offer the possibility of hiring a machine operator from us."

Much possible

"People usually have no idea what is possible. A while ago, I got a call from a company that was shaking medicine bottles out of their plastic boxes by hand. Until one of them thought: maybe there is a machine for that. That's how they came to me and now this time-consuming work is done by one of our machines." Rien was also recently approached by an entrepreneur with a large batch of broken wine bottles. Attached to the bottle necks were scraps of silver paper that he wanted to separate from the glass. "I recommended one of our drum sieves and with that the job was
so done."

Defence shooting range

Zeefmachine.nl also rents out a sieving installation to the Ministry of Defense: "The ammunition has to be sieved from the ground of their shooting range. However, above this lane is a construction of horizontal beams that prevents the bullets from ending up outside the lane. Only small machines can pass under this, which is why they used to have a small excavator dig the ground first and then sift the ground in another place. Nowadays they rent from me a small sieving machine that fits exactly under this construction." 

Electric screening plant

From his own experience as a contractor, Rien knows what is important in machine rental. "Reliability is an important factor. That's why we make sure our machines are in good condition and there are almost never any problems. If a breakdown does occur unexpectedly, we are in the car within an hour, on our way to the site." Fitting in with the energy transition, Zeefverhuur.nl also has some sieve installations in its range that are electrically powered.
