Scania P500 XT Concrete pump for NBC

Noorder Betonpompen Centrale BV has taken delivery of a new Scania five axle truck with a Schwing S52SX concrete pump. The fifty-ton vehicle was made suitable for this application by Veldhuizen Trucks, including by moving the second front axle.

The Noorder Betonpompen Centrale BV has a fleet of 40 concrete pumps, including foam concrete vehicles and trailer concrete pumps. The new Scania is the second heaviest concrete pump of the company from Leek, Groningen. The fleet consists largely of Scania trucks, and the latest addition was also built on the basis of a Scania truck. Starting from a Scania P500 XT 10×4, the vehicle was adapted by Veldhuizen Wagenbouw for this specific body. To make room for the front support legs of the concrete pump body, the original second front axle was relocated. Furthermore, the axle loads were adjusted in connection with the weight of the body.

50 tons own weight

The built-up truck weighs almost 50 tons at 49,350 kilograms. The maximum GVW is 49,950 kilos, leaving a payload of 600 kilos, enough for the necessary additional equipment and attachments. To make this high dead weight possible, the front axles were upgraded by Veldhuizen Trucks to two times ten tons. The two driven axles are each good for technically 12 tons and the trailing axle is also approved for 10 tons. This created a vehicle with a technically permissible weight of 53 tons. To make room for the support legs of the Schwing concrete pump, the second front axle was moved 33 centimeters to the rear. The total length of the Scania with the impressive concrete pump is no less than 1289 cm, and this is possible because it is a moving implement. For vehicles suitable for carrying cargo, 12 meters is the maximum. Despite its size, the Scania is extremely maneuverable, which is important on the often cramped construction sites.

162 cubic meters of concrete per hour

The Schwing S52SX concrete pump has a vertical reach of 54.5 meters and a theoretical capacity of 162 cubic meters per hour at a constant supply. The pump operates at a pressure of 85 bar, making it the second largest of Noorder Betonpompen Centrale BV in terms of capacity. For propulsion, a special intermediate gearbox is mounted behind the Scania's gearbox that acts as PTO. The truck was delivered by Scania Groningen and assembled by Boogert Service.
