Returning to the IAA trade fair for the first time since 2018, Scania will provide an impressive demonstration of its capabilities to deliver sustainable transport solutions. Fourteen different vehicles will be on display in three different areas. And they will be supported by a package of services that represents the broadest offering in the industry for customers looking to reduce their CO2-footprint while achieving the best overall operating economy. Scania is addressing the climate crisis by providing sustainable customer value based on fuel efficiency, electrification and digital services, such as the new "My Scania" portal.
"At the IAA exhibition, the Scania team is demonstrating that our level of ambition is of the highest level when it comes to creating sustainable transport solutions for the transport and logistics ecosystem," said Stefano Fedel, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Scania. "Our commitment to delivering added value to the customer is our guide in implementing advanced, fossil-free solutions based on modularity and digitalization that are suited to the transformation our industry is currently undergoing."
All vehicles shown by Scania at the IAA are proof of Scania's solution-oriented approach, combining regular and digital services. All solutions are built around the vehicles and their operations, but it is clear that connected services are key to maximizing customer profitability here and now:
"Our industry has entered an era where 'make or break' is closely tied to the kind of data-driven services we and our trusted partners offer," Fedel said. "By leveraging data, everything from finance and insurance to preventive replacements and driver services can be tailored to each customer's individual needs. We are already well advanced in tapping into the potential that digitization and electrification offer for our customers' business outcomes."
Scania has been promoting the message for many years that there is no silver bullit solution for the transport sector in the fight against climate change. According to Scania, fossil-free fuels such as biomethane, biodiesel and HVO play an important role in achieving the CO2-reduction targets according to the company's own Science Based Targets.
The central part of the booth will be used to present Scania's wide range of digital and connected services and charging solutions. Two new services will make their debut at the IAA: My Scania and the Scania Driver app. Both pave the way for greater efficiency and profitability for customers.
"Based on our modular thinking, we continue to add more variety and options to our portfolio for all kinds of clients," Fedel said. "The journey through this decade is fascinating because it offers more alternatives, and more uncertainty, than ever before. Navigating unknown waters is a challenge for all involved. It is our duty as a leading manufacturer to offer all relevant solutions and to support our customers by guiding them as best we can through partnerships."
At this year's IAA, Scania will also have its own studio at its booth. From this studio, Scania hosts and experts and invited guests will provide online broadcasts in which guests discuss highly relevant topics, such as electrification, fossil-free transport and sustainable solutions. The aim is to make the most relevant content from the IAA available to an audience that cannot attend the show in person.
Scania will have a total of 14 vehicles at the IAA, both indoors and outdoors. In terms of electrification, Scania is showing four battery-electric vehicles inside: a model of the recently introduced new BEV for regional purposes, a BEV bus and two BEV trucks for urban applications. The extensive lineup of vehicles at the IAA is a testament to Scania's broad offering, not only in the BEV field: eight ICE trucks, two of which are V8s, three vehicles with the Super powertrain (the most fuel-efficient powertrain in the industry), and one truck running on biomethane, which represents the two new gas engines introduced by Scania.
On the 800 m2 large outdoor arena, Scania is exhibiting five vehicles. Among them is a BEV city tipper with the familiar Scania XT features, emphasizing robustness and durability. It is joined by a conventional XT vehicle with a Scania V8, plus a V8 heavy haulage tractor and an Irizar coach. Last but not least, Scania is bringing three more vehicles to the IAA test and drive arena: a Scania Super, a hooklift BEV and a versatile hybrid truck.
