Rototilt has been nominated at the World Demolition Awards in the "Innovation - Tools and Attachments" category, for its Q14 electrical connector. The electrical connector increases reliability in fully automatic quick-change systems. "Sometimes the biggest innovations are in the smallest details," according to Hampus Jonsson, Business Area Manager at Rototilt.
An electrical contact in an industry with such large machines may seem like only a small thing to focus on. But for Rototilt, improving the stability of the Q14 electrical connector has had a major impact on electronics in fully automatic quick-change systems. Rototilt was nominated for innovation in attachments and components at the World Demolition Awards for the development of the Q14 electrical connector.

"The need for a reliable electrical connection between an excavator and attachments is only increasing as technology advances," says Hampus Jonsson, Business Area Manager. "We found that existing electrical solutions for automatic connections are far too unstable and hinder the development of new attachments and technical solutions. We wanted to change that."
The electrical contact is a prerequisite for a complete system of hydraulics and electronics in a fully automatic automatic quick coupler. Everything from the safety lock to the control system depends on a stable electrical connector. For Rototilt, existing solutions could not withstand the high pressure, harsh working environment and their own requirements for connection quality.
"Thanks to the Q14, we can offer a coupling system that can be automatically connected to both hydraulics and electronics," says Jonsson. "With more pins and larger contact surfaces, we have increased the reliability of the connection and enabled higher data capacity. The connector has a protected design and is completely waterproof in the coupled position. In fact, the design makes the connector self-cleaning during coupling."

The World Demolition Awards will be held in Toronto, Canada, and the winners of each category will be announced on Oct. 17 and 18. In addition to Rototilt, Mantovanibenne from Italy and Rotar from the Netherlands.are also nominated for this award.
"We are in good company," says Jonsson. "It is a real honor to be nominated and recognized for our hard work in developing Q14. We are delighted with all the positive feedback, both in our own field tests and from end users. This nomination is yet another proof of that."
