Renault Trucks digitizes cab interior and introduces new safety features on heavy truck range

With the driver's well-being and safety in mind, Renault Trucks has made sweeping improvements to its Renault Trucks T, T High, C & K ranges. The manufacturer has optimized the cabin interior to optimize comfort and ergonomics and equipped its trucks with advanced technologies to support the driver and improve road safety. These features will also be available on the all-electric Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models that go into production this fall.

Renault Trucks is constantly working to improve its vehicles and offer drivers a safer, more functional and more comfortable working environment. This is why the manufacturer is equipping its T, T High, C & K ranges with new safety features and a new cabin interior for even greater comfort, both behind the wheel while driving and during breaks. This technology will also be available on the recently launched Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models.

Optimized driving and living comfort on board

In the cab, the equipment and layout have been optimized to provide drivers with a more pleasant working and living environment by further combining ergonomics, comfort and productivity.

The dashboard features a new 12-inch adjustable digital main display, complemented by a secondary multifunction touchscreen with an intuitive Android Automobile interface for quick operation and access to various settings and functions. Drivers can safely operate the functions of the main and secondary displays via the controls on the redesigned steering wheel; phone calls and music (media) settings can also be controlled from the steering wheel. 

To simplify driving, it is possible to display navigation assistance centrally. Extended camera views also increase safety. The trucks can also be equipped with a wireless induction charger for phones.

For optimum driving comfort, the new "D" shaped steering wheel can be equipped with a leather finish. The new smaller steering wheel with flattened underside gives more freedom of movement for the driver behind the wheel. The seats and dashboard of the Renault Trucks T, T High, C & K can be personalized to your liking. The seats can be equipped with full cloth upholstery or be finished in half-leather combined with fabric. For the dashboard, there is a choice of a compact or panoramic dasboard with a finish in anthracite gray or black with red accents. The all-electric Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models have their own distinctive finish in a blue and red color scheme.

The Renault Trucks T, T High, C & K ranges and the Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models are equipped with a steering column adjustable in three directions. This allows the driver to adopt the optimal seating position behind the wheel for maximum overview and comfort, fully adapted to his physique, and of course his personal preferences. The steering column can be adjusted with a single push of the foot control that allows both the height, depth and inclination of the steering wheel to be adjusted. Precision and safety are guaranteed as the adjustment can be made with both hands on the steering wheel and the position locks immediately after releasing the foot control.

Advanced driver assistance technologies

Renault Trucks 2024 heavy truck range models are equipped with the latest driver assistance technologies and the most effective emergency braking systems to ensure the safety of drivers, their cargo and other road users, including vulnerable pedestrians and cyclists.

The manufacturer has installed radars and cameras around the vehicle that increase the driver's field of vision. These systems help ensure the safety of road users, simplify maneuvers and reduce the risk of accidents. Optionally, up to five cameras can be added to monitor the area around the vehicle, cargo or fifth wheel during coupling and uncoupling. 

Drivers are automatically informed of the tire pressure of the truck and trailer and are alerted in case of deviations, which can prevent excessive fuel consumption or a blowout. The vehicles are also equipped with a speeding warning system (ISA: Intelligent Speed Assist), with a camera that detects the speed limit and warns the driver when it is exceeded, to prevent accidents and fines.

For maximum safety, Renault Trucks T, T High, C & K models can be equipped with a driver airbag combined with a seatbelt tensioner (standard on Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models).

To optimize fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions, the vehicles can be equipped with the Optivision Map Based system, which transmits topographical data to the on-board computer while driving to optimize shifting strategies. The Check and Map modules of the Optifleet fleet management software are also standard here, to monitor and optimize driving style and plan trips even more efficiently. This feature is available as standard on Renault Trucks E-Tech T & C models.
