Less e-waste with own 'repair café'

Despite ambitions for a fully circular economy by 2050, the mountain of electronic waste, also known as e-waste, is still growing. We are using more electrical appliances en masse and replacing them frequently, as modern products are barely repairable. Tele Radio, experts in radio remote control, is aware of the contribution to a future-proof world and is therefore repairing its systems more and more frequently.

"Tele Radio's radio remote controls are robust and can stand up to a good deal," states Ron van Gent of Tele Radio. "Because we keep many parts in stock, even very old transmitters can be repaired in almost all cases. As a result, our products have a significantly longer life and are less likely to end up on the scrap heap. We offer our customers the opportunity to have products repaired and act as a kind of 'repair café' so to speak."

Tele Radio remote controls have a long service life. Should they break down, the company repairs them itself as much as possible.

Reduce waste

"Our goals are the same as those of a repair café, namely; reducing waste, maintaining repair knowledge and maintaining relationships," Van Gent continued. "The drive to make electronics compulsorily repairable, in the fight against waste, is getting stronger."

For example, the European Commission is working on measures to make products more sustainable. With this, the EU is trying to encourage manufacturers to produce their products cleaner, make them compulsorily repairable and extend the minimum warranty period.

Tele Radio cares about the environment and likes to do its part to ensure an optimal living environment. The company is therefore certified according to the ISO 14001 standard. That standard requires that a company take responsibility for preventing pollution as much as possible and that an organization take full responsibility for improving it every year.
