Mecalac likes to be at the forefront of innovative machines, so too for the energy transition. The French manufacturer takes the environment very seriously and underlines this by being the first brand to introduce medium-sized models for emission-free digging, loading or transporting. Meet the E series, which consists of the e12, Ahlmann eS 1000 and eD6.
That Mecalac did not take any chances when developing the battery-electric machines is evident from the fact that the prototype of the e12 could already be admired in 2018 at the Intermat fair in Paris. Since then, three production models are (almost) ready to take on high prestige within earthwork and road construction. In this new generation, the "e" stands for: electric, emission-free, ecological and efficient. They are sustainable machines, whose power, operating time and compactness make them ideal for inner-city projects with zero CO2 and particulate matter.
For now, the E-Series consists of three models, and they are an 11-ton mobile excavator, a 7.8-ton swing loader and a 6-ton wheel dumper. All machines feature innovative technologies, such as high-quality lithium-ion batteries, efficient motors and advanced auxiliary systems, giving them longer uptime and less frequent recharging. Other benefits include less noise or vibration and lower maintenance costs, as there is no need to change filters or catalytic converters. Engine oil and coolant changes are also no longer required.
A versatile implement carrier with a unique boom configuration and an articulated chassis. Thanks to the electric motor in the undercarriage, a battery capacity of 150 kWh is created, resulting in a trouble-free deployment of 8 hours. Later this year, the eS 1000 and eD6 will be launched, both with 75 kWh batteries. The Ahlmann swing loader with 1,000-liter bucket capacity guarantees optimum stability, power and work duration, while Mecalac combines safety and comfort with performance in any terrain in the world's first electric dumper with 6 tons of load capacity.
With the E Series, the manufacturer is paving the way to intelligent, clean and quiet construction sites. On an annual basis, this trio quickly delivers a CO2-savings of 64 tons, it has been calculated. Mecalac's new ecosystem appears to be a real gamechanger, bringing a future with even more sustainable, quiet and efficient construction machinery a little closer. In the process, quality and robustness are not lost sight of, so the electrically powered models continue to meet the emission-free needs of inner-city builders even under the toughest conditions.
