From trailers for own use to importer

Stoter Truck and Trailer supplies Schwarzmüller products in the Netherlands

Since the end of 2022, Stoter Truck and Trailer from IJsselmuiden has been a Schwarzmüller dealer. The trailers of this Austrian brand stand out because of the customer-specific wishes that are custom-made. Schwarzmüller is one of the larger European trailer builders, despite its specialism in 'building to customer specifications', with around 10,000 vehicles delivered each year.

"In addition to Stoter Truck and Trailer, our company also has the 'building materials', 'transport' and 'truck service' sections, with the transport section having a truck fleet of about 35 trucks," explains sales consultant Gerard Vlastuin. "About five years ago we started using Schwarzmüller trailers for our own transport. Mainly because their tippers can be loaded to 50 tons (because of an 18-ton kingpin) and have a very high level of finishing. In addition, they have a low dead weight, low center of gravity and are at driving level very quickly during loading, so that the weights can be read properly. Reason enough to go with Stoter Truck and Trailer for the importership of Schwarzmüller Netherlands." 

Vlastuin also praises the Austrians' wide product range. "That covers no less than eight different product groups. Not only do they make trailers for construction and infra, but they are also very good at low loaders, bomb trailers, tankers, container trailers and walking floor trailers. They have been around for 150 years now, so they have a wealth of experience."

Top six manufacturers

With about 10,000 trailers delivered each year, Vlastuin says Schwarzmüller is one of the top six European trailer builders. "But they just as easily deliver a customized trailer outside the standard model. But ex-factory. Despite the high production, they don't turn their hand to very customer-specific wishes. Want a 10-millimeter floor? Fine. A certain cubic capacity? No problem either. In IJsselmuiden we have our own configuration program, so we can switch quickly with the factory. Long waiting times are unknown to them."

Customers in the Netherlands who are not yet familiar with the trailers from Austria need not worry. "Stoter Truck and Trailer guarantees continuity. We employ experienced mechanics ourselves and have sufficient in-house capacity to repair any defects or damage. In our warehouse we have a wide range of parts. This includes both original parts and aftermarket truck and trailer components. As a result, we rarely have to sell 'no'."
