Hitachi Construction Machinery Nederland is making a big splash at the TKD in Almere. Not only will there be various excavators and wheel loaders on display on stand number 156, but as importer of the Bell brand, Hitachi will also be bringing two dump trucks (B30E) with it: one can be seen on the stand and the other will be making its rounds on the demo site. Hitachi also has some news to share.
First the news: last autumn at BAUMA, Hitachi already presented Europe's first 5-tonne electric excavator. And, of course, it will also be extensively showcased at TKD. "The new ZX55U-6EB has the same small turning radius as the diesel-powered ZX55U-6. This makes the machine excellent to steer when space is limited. The performance is also just as powerful," states marketing manager Evert van den Broek. "In addition to working without emissions, the mini excavator offers lower noise levels, greater efficiency, exceptional performance in limited maneuvering space and less need for maintenance than conventional models."
The ZX55U-6EB is the first of its kind produced by Hitachi and uses the same concept as the 8-ton ZX85 electric excavator. "The electric ZX85-6EB lasts 5.5 hours on 1 battery and can be 80 percent charged in 30 minutes," Van den Broek explained. "And we are producing these machines in the meantime at our factory in Amsterdam." Finally, the ZE135 will also be presented. This electric 15-tonner is equipped with a 198 kWh battery, but can also work on a cable in addition.
At TKD, Hitachi Construction Machinery will announce a 10-ton mobile excavator as a first, soon to be delivered. The ZX95W-7 is equipped with the familiar 55.4 kW (75.3 hp) Stage V Deutz TCD 2.9L4 power unit. The four-wheel steered machine has a pump output of 145 liters per minute for driving and a separate 117 liters per minute pump for working. The two-piece offset boom provides a reach of 7.75 meters and a digging depth of 3.78 meters.
In the form of the ZX95US-7 and ZX95USB-7, Hitachi is bringing an absolute first to Almere. The successors to the successful ZX85-6 will come onto the market later this year and have been thoroughly updated. For example, a more spacious cabin offers extra comfort. Furthermore, with 50.4 kW plus 185 Nm, the midi-excavator has almost 19% more engine power and 14% more torque, while stability increases by 4% (US version) and 10% (USB). The ZX95 is the first compact model the manufacturer is converting to the ZX-7 series.
The Hitachi stand will also highlight two wheel loaders: the ZW160-7 and ZW250-7, with which the complete range of wheel loaders has now been updated by the -7 models. Both models feature exceptional loading performance, low total cost of ownership and efficiency, according to the manufacturer. The high levels of productivity are guaranteed by fast cycle times, plenty of power and payload and improved acceleration on slopes thanks to sensors installed on various machine components. RPM is automatically increased thanks to the automatic start function, which maintains the machine's travel speed when travelling uphill. This shortens cycle times, increases productivity and reduces fuel consumption.
In addition to the Hitachi and Bell brands, Hitachi Construction Machinery Netherlands is also a dealer of HSC Cranes. However, these cannot be witnessed live during TKD. Van den Broek: "A long-term field test is currently being carried out with an electric SXC800A-3, so unfortunately it is not yet available for the TKD."
Then there are the dump trucks from South African company Bell. The 6×6 equipped B30E is produced in Germany and Hitachi Construction Machinery Netherlands has been the importer for the Dutch market since 2020. A major advantage of this model is the fact that the machines are much lighter than others on the market. According to the RDW, only a Bell is allowed on the road with registration plates because of its low axle load of only 12 tons.
