EHB delivers 100th Giant electric articulated loader

That the trend toward electric machines seems irreversible is proven by e-Hartog Bouwmaterieel from Montfoort with the delivery of its hundredth Giant G2200E wheel loader to Van Wijk Nieuwegein. Reason enough for a celebration at the new premises of this specialist in emission-free machines for the construction, rental, industrial or green sector.

After the grand opening in July, a new milestone presented itself at the end of October for e-Hartog Construction Equipment (EHB), which is managed by Rosanne den Hartog and Managing Director Frank Siteur. As more and more brands introduce battery-powered machines, the need in the market for independent advice is also increasing. This has made Gert and Els den Hartog decide to add an electric leg to their successful business.

The acquisition comes complete with sweeper brush for street work, dense bucket, debris bucket, tileriek, pallet forks and lifting jib for machine street clamp.

Increasing interest

"For many companies, it is still a distant concept, but now that the first electric machines are running satisfactorily in the market, interest is growing in a wider sense," Frank says. "This is because they offer significant advantages over diesel-powered machines: less noise pollution, no emissions of CO2 or soot particles, lower costs for maintenance or energy and award advantage in tenders," Rosanne lists.

e-Hartog Construction Equipment brings together the electrical offerings of several manufacturers under one roof. On the first floor and two half-open floors, each brand will have its own place with specific ambiance. Initially, these will be brands that are familiar to customers, such as Giant (wheel loaders), Messersi (track dumpers), Hamevac (vacuum systems) or Husqvarna (cut-off saws). Electric mini- and midi-excavators will be added in the near future.

Wide machine range

Rosanne den Hartog: "Our goal is to guide companies as best we can in the new world of emission-free work. We do this by presenting a wide range of purely A-brands. The market for electric equipment is very much on the move. For example, Mikasa is coming out with a line of battery-powered vibratory plates and rammers." Rosanne believes that within five years the ratio in the compact segment will turn from almost entirely fossil fuel powered now to 80 to 90 percent electric.

Meanwhile, Van Wijk Nieuwegein, part of ReintenInfra BV, has also been convinced and invested in its first electric articulated loader. The handover was given a festive touch, as the Giant G2200E X-tra HD is exactly the hundredth battery-powered machine that Tobroco-Giant has delivered to e-Hartog/Den Hartog Bouwmaterieel in the past two years. A total of six hundred G2200Es rolled off the line in Oisterwijk, underlining this dealer's share once again.

60% is running in the Netherlands

"Of all the battery-powered Giants, some 60% are running in the Netherlands, followed by the Scandinavian countries led by Denmark," knows Luuk van Kessel, account manager for the Netherlands at Tobroco-Giant. Frank Siteur adds: "You buy an electric machine with an eye on the future, in which sustainability and circularity are central. Those who want to carry out projects in inner cities or near busy locations such as schools or stores simply cannot avoid investing in emission-free machines, whether for sale or rental."

Those who choose the Giant G2200E will benefit not only from tax advantages but also from interesting extras, including a 5-year warranty on the battery and 0% interest on financing. Director Michel Hoeke on the new acquisition: "Van Wijk Nieuwegein highly values sustainability. We are now moving in the right direction and we have to stick to it. This articulated loader fits in nicely with the electric equipment we already have and definitely does its bit for a greener construction site."
