With the delivery of a Develon DX255LC-7, Douwe Hoekstra Kraanverhuur & Transport from Nijemirdum took delivery of the South Korean manufacturer's first Streep-7 model in March. This 26-ton excavator is by no means unknown to the Frisian family business. There are now three of them in the equipment fleet, which are used fraternally side by side on a project in Almere.
Douwe Hoekstra Crane Rental & Transport was founded in 1980 and in over four decades grew into a renowned player in the field of earthmoving and transport, operating throughout the Netherlands. The cooperation with the Develon dealer goes back even longer, as Douwe used to work as a milk hauler/monster driver. In his spare time, he started a trading company in beet leaves, which were resold to cattle farmers as cow feed. "For loading the tipping trailer, Douwe bought his first mobile excavator from us as early as 1976," recalls this dealer.

Over the years Douwe Hoekstra has deployed machines, tractors and trucks of various makes. One common thread can be identified, however. In 1987, the company was among the first Daewoo customers in Europe. The Develon dealer explains, "Van Vliet in Waddinxveen was bringing machines here. That involved the DH180CL of about 20 tons. If we succeeded in selling it from the brochure, we were allowed to go with the customer to the factory in South Korea. We bivouacked with Douwe Hoekstra, Brandsma Wolsum and De Haan Wirdum for a week in the Hilton Hotel in Seoul. Afterwards, three signatures followed the final sales contract."
As a user from the very beginning, several Daewoo, Doosan and now Develon machines have been delivered to Nijemirdum over the years. Douwe and his son Atze have been loyal customers of three generations of this dealership for almost half a century. Atze Hoekstra says: "We get along very well with our dealer. Their knowledge and professionalism are worth a lot to us. Develon stands for solid service and quality. Machines contain increasingly complex technology, so a breakdown is easily lurking. Then it's nice to be able to fall back on a dealer around the corner."

With the new Develon acquisition, Douwe Hoekstra adds a third DX255 to its fleet. The other two are in a multi-version with extended boom, good for a digging range of 12 or 14 meters. The latter has been renamed DX285 by the dealer. The machinery fleet totals 10 trucks, eight tractors, four articulated dump trucks and 27 excavators, including six Doosans. We recognize another DX35Z, DX165W-5 and two DX225LC-5s. For Douwe Hoekstra, the DX255LC-7 delivered in March is the first Develon of the latest generation, which meets the stringent Stage V emissions standard.

The familiar and fuel-efficient DL06V six-cylinder powerplant delivers 141 kW (189 hp) of engine power, allowing the machine to handle a 1,800-liter bucket with ease. From the factory, the 26-ton crawler excavator is equipped with a counterweight of 5.5 instead of 5 tons plus a 360° camera system with separate screen. The Develon dealer installed a dome under the monoboom, which creates a bit more height under the bucket, making it easier to load tippers or dumpers at close range. Other options include: 27mc equipment (controlled via joysticks), running boards all around, blinded windows, CW40 quick coupler with Pladdet tilt and Leica GPS system.

The Develon DX255LC-7 replaces a 30-ton crawler excavator and runs continuously on projects of Zeewolde-based de Waard Grondverzet. Hence Douwe Hoekstra had the machine painted in their distinctive green and white livery. The two DX255s and DX285 form a powerful trinity on a large-scale construction project in Almere. Whether it's a long or short job, thanks to an extensive machine park Douwe Hoekstra's 35 employees bring every job to a successful conclusion. "Because we have a very wide range of machines, there is a solution for every problem," Atze knows.
Whether it is an occasional order for the performance of a transport, the delivery of one or more machines or the care of a complete project with the combined deployment of various earthmoving machines, with the specialists of Douwe Hoekstra you have come to the right place for over 40 years. Not only in ground, road and hydraulic engineering, because the company also carries out more specialized assignments, such as demolition or mowing work. "Our dedicated employees have an extensive track record and support our clients with creative solutions."
