DEVELON launches updated electric-powered mini excavator

The DX20ZE-7 mini excavator is the latest version of the company's electrically powered machine

The DX20ZE-7 mini-excavator will become the first electrically powered mass production excavator produced by DEVELON, formerly known as Doosan Construction Equipment. The 2-ton mini-excavator combines low noise and zero emissions with the features and performance improvements of the DX-7 series of next-generation mini-excavators.

"The DX20ZE-7 is designed to meet a growing demand for electric excavators," said Stephane Dieu, Excavator Product Manager for Europe at DEVELON. "Since compact machines, such as mini excavators, are more likely to work in cities and residential areas, where they are close to other workers, they have a big advantage over their diesel-powered counterparts because they make less noise and are emission-free."

Folding tracks allow the new mini excavator to pass through narrow passages and entrances and exits, making it ideal for projects in confined spaces or indoor applications such as demolition and construction work. Once the mini excavator reaches the work area, the operator can fold out the tracks for improved stability and lifting capacity. With its compact size, the DX20ZE-7 is an excellent solution for construction and rental companies working in sensitive areas where low noise or night work is necessary.

The DX20ZE-7 mini excavator is powered by a self-developed 20.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, with all of the machine's electrical systems and components optimized to work in harsh environments. A fast charging system restores 80% of battery capacity after just one hour and 20 minutes of charging, while the built-in charger restores the maximum charge after eight hours of charging.

Telematics included

Telematics is included as standard on the DX20ZE-7 mini excavator. Machinists and dealers can remotely monitor machine condition, location and productivity via an app or website. Telematics can help owners with:

• Minimize machine theft and enable machine tracking;
• Prevent unauthorized use of the machine;
• See when machine maintenance is needed;
• Customize alerts to the client's schedule;
• Monitors oil pressure, working temperature and more;
• Use collected data to train machine operators for maximum productivity.
