Largest OEM-manufactured demolition machine weighs as much as 130 tons
It is the world's largest demolition machine produced by a manufacturer and it weighs 130 tons: the Kobelco SK1300DLC. The first one shipped to Europe from the Japanese factory was on its way to equipment trade fair Bauma. However, it went to Rotterdam with extra-long boom.
The Kemp Group delivered it there to the MSO Group for the demolition of the Dijkzicht Hospital. So that at the end of October in Munich we can admire the second machine intended for Europe. With a height range of up to about 40 meters, the SK1300DLC is Kobelco's showpiece. The market leader in demolition cranes sees an increasing demand for powerful machines. At 130 tons, the ultra high-reach SK1300DLC is therefore a welcome addition to its range, which also includes the much smaller SK350DLC-10E (45 tons), SK400DLC-10E (50 tons) and SK550DLC-11 (62 tons).
Peter Stuijt is product manager at Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe BV (KCME): "The SK1300DLC was introduced in Japan in 2021 and its reputation as a workhorse in the toughest and most challenging demolition conditions is already unmatched. Therefore, the arrival of this machine was eagerly awaited in Europe. The SK1300DLC is ideal for demolition projects requiring work at heights of more than 30 meters, and its Next Advance system also makes it ideal for demolition work below ground level. We see that this versatility, and the fact that it is quick and easy to dismantle and transport, is of great benefit to demolition contractors working on multiple construction sites."
The unique four-piece boom configuration Next Advance is specially designed to work at high altitudes with heavier tools. This new articulated construction keeps the machine's center of gravity low in the process. At a maximum pin height of 40 meters, the ultra high-reach demolition giant is suitable for tools up to 4.3 tons, while with the 35-meter boom configuration a tool weight of 5.2 tons is possible. With three-piece boom, the Kobelco reaches up to 35 or 31 meters, good for a tool weight of 5 and 6.1 tons, respectively, and at the same time a larger working range.
But it can be even stronger: when the additional boom is used, even larger demolition shears of up to 12 tons can be mounted, for example, for powerful processing of residual material at ground level, or for demolishing up to 8 meters deep reinforced concrete foundations.
Due to its modular design, the SK1300DLC is quick to assemble and disassemble. When the attachments, base boom including subframe, track frame and both counterweights are disassembled, what remains is a travel and upper structure with a transport weight of less than 32 tons and a width of approximately 3.2 meters. This allows the demolition machine to be transported efficiently in urban areas or in countries with strict transport regulations. To save time, the main boom can be dismantled in about two hours.
