Case Construction launched an entirely new line of mini-excavators in early May with no fewer than twenty (!) models ranging from 1 to 6 tons. Further interesting in this regard is that two battery-electric powered variants are coming to market.

Exactly five years after unveiling the C Series mini excavators, Case is raising the bar significantly with the D Series when it comes to even better performance and more comfort and safety. The new models get the latest technology, features and attachments for all markets and applications. The introduction of the compact D-range follows CNH Industrial's acquisition - late last year - of Sampierana SpA for 90%. The Sampierana group includes Sampierana crawler undercarriages and Eurocomach mini-excavators. CNH managing director Egidio Galano explains, "European production will allow the first D-Series machines to be delivered to our customers' construction sites as early as the third quarter of 2022."

Features such as zero-tail swing and two-piece booms are available across the range. Users can fully customize each machine to suit the application, with options ranging from basic configurations to premium models. The versatile and performance enhancing adjustment boom is even available on the 2, 4.5 and 5.5 tonne models. An industry first, CNH believes. The first of the two electric models in the 1 to 3 ton range is the CX15EV, which will be available from the first quarter of 2023. Equipped with a 16 kW electric motor, this 1.3-ton machine will have a 21.5 kWh battery pack, which can be fully recharged in less than two hours with an external fast charger. Ideal for locations with strict restrictions on emissions or noise, such as busy inner cities or indoor work sites.

"Mini excavators are a fast-growing segment and account for almost half of all European machine sales. CASE has responded to customer demand with a full range of twenty D-Series models from 1 to 6 tons," explains Egidio Galano, Director Construction Equipment Product Management Europe at CNH Industrial. The operator benefits from many features that improve safety and productivity, ranging from automatic air conditioning and heating to quick couplers to change attachments in no time. The customizable electro-hydraulic joysticks and the digital cluster with AUX1, AUX2 and AUX3 flow adjustment guarantee a high degree of customization and control over the workflow.

The boom, hood layout, cab front working lights, cab entry lights, fabric seat with optional air suspension and heating plus (as an extra) suspended joysticks are all designed for optimal operator comfort. The optional anti-theft features, rear view camera and additional working lights on the rear of the cab provide even more peace of mind. Finally, as extras available DAB radio, Bluetooth, USB, SD/SDHC memory card and an auxiliary input improve the operator's working environment.
To increase flexibility, uptime and productivity, Case has created a suite of after-sales services called Case Service Solutions. The services include geolocation, fleet security using geo-fences and unauthorized use alerts, and flexible reporting from the Case SiteWatch fleet management tool. This includes the ability to remotely track fuel consumption, utilization, machine hours and inactivity. Case SiteConnect enhances the telemetry data used by Case's Uptime Center team to provide dealers with machine performance alerts. Dealers can remotely access machine data and proactively respond to customers to ensure maximum uptime. Both SiteWatch and SiteConnect will be available on D-Series mini excavators starting in 2023.
