Brigade Electronics' 360-degree camera system is well regarded as the total system that eliminates every blind spot. For more than forty years, the company has focused on saving lives by making vehicles, on and off-road, as safe as possible.

Dead spots - the areas around a vehicle that the driver cannot see - pose a significant danger to a person or object that is near the vehicle. Even with a mirror or single-view camera, the risk of blind spots remains. Too often, accidents still happen to cyclists in traffic or workers on construction sites who are hit because the driver of a vehicle did not see them just because they were in the blind spot. That's why Brigade Electronics introduced the Backeye® 360 a few years ago.

"With this, the benefits extend beyond accident prevention," says Jeroen Levert, business development manager at Brigade Electronics. "Because the driver sees a real-time overview of the vehicle and the entire environment around the vehicle on his monitor from a helicopter view, it is the perfect support in all situations. This is because the driver sees it immediately if something or someone is near the vehicle and can therefore anticipate this immediately."
Fortunately, safety is increasingly paramount, says Levert, who refers to the fact that Heijmans Netherlands has decided to have Brigade's 360-degree camera system installed on every new vehicle. They want their subcontractors to comply with a 360-degree view on their vehicles as well. Heijmans (along with several other main contractors) has even signed a safety covenant for this. "A nice development," thinks Levert.

"Within the earthmoving world, we are with our Backeye 360 system with several importers, including Doosan, Caterpillar, Kobelco, Atlas and Hitachi," Levert continued. Traffic Service Netherlands also uses the Backeye 360 system on their collision absorbers. Collision absorbers are the vehicles used at the start of road works.
In heavier industries, radar detection is often used, whether or not in combination with the Backeye 360. Especially in harsher conditions such as fog, mud, moisture, darkness or, for example, when driving on rough terrain, it helps the driver if he can rely on an audible warning in addition to his 360-degree vision. High cabs, poor visibility and sometimes being distracted by a situation that arises unexpectedly can prevent the driver from looking at his monitor for a split second. Radar detection helps with this and alerts through an in-cab display.
The Backsense can also be combined onscreen with the Backeye 360, giving the driver the overall view but also seeing the detection zone marker lines. Levert concludes, "Thanks to the flexibility of the Brigade systems, there are solutions for all kinds of vehicles. This makes Brigade's products usable not only in GWW, but also in all other markets."
