Workflow management should ensure that information exchange between different departments runs smoothly and efficiently. Software plays a crucial role in this. The MAGNET software package from Topcon Positioning Netherlands is the solution for streamlining workflows for both field personnel and the business office in every phase of a construction project.
"MAGNET can be used on site, in the cloud and in the office. Because the software can be linked to Topcon's measuring instruments such as a GNSS receiver, total station, 3D scanner or 3D machine controller, the user can create and access the correct data anytime, anywhere. It will improve productivity across the entire project."
"The most commonly used elements of MAGNET within the GWW and construction industry are Field, Enterprise and Office," knows Jaydee Verhoeven, who started in Topcon's Support Department where he put his experience in the field, extensive technical knowledge and far-reaching affinity for the GWW sector to use. He is now Account Manager Machine Control. He explains, "At the construction site, we work with MAGNET Field for surveying, plotting and collecting surveying and construction site data with a total station or GNSS system. The simplicity and user-friendliness ensures that you can work quickly and efficiently, allowing you to really focus on the work at hand." Verhoeven explains that all data is stored in the cloud via MAGNET Enterprise. "This allows the entire project team to access accurate and consistent measurement data from the project anytime, anywhere. In addition, there is always a backup." The strength of MAGNET Office, according to Verhoeven, is that employees in the office can convert simple 2D drawings into complete 3D drawings and models. "This 3D model can also be used for volume calculations, setting up the soil balance and accurately calculating and invoicing them. All the data can then be linked to Topcon's machine controls in the field and so we have come full circle."
Topcon's ever-evolving software guarantees higher accuracy and more efficient work, resulting in the prevention of duplication and a reduction in failure costs. "All machines and measuring instruments in the field can communicate with each other. The software is the key!" says Brandsen. "You keep a grip on the processes, workflows and projects," adds Verhoeven. He recently wrote several white papers (downloadable from the Topcon website) explaining step-by-step and very hands-on how to get started with MAGNET yourself. "It's a matter of doing," Verhoeven says and continues: "There is much to be gained if GWW companies themselves convert the 2D drawings into usable 3D drawings and models."
"Data has always been important and is becoming increasingly important," Brandsen knows. "Especially with a view to the future and the quality assurance law that is undoubtedly coming. Our software ensures that you can easily submit all desired data before, during and after delivery." Verhoeven concludes, "With the right software and equipment, you get to the right results and work as productively and efficiently as possible."
