A Century of Entrepreneurship Honored: Anema Aarum Receives the Entrepreneurship Award

A Century of Entrepreneurship Recognized: Anema Aarum Receives the Entrepreneur Award

A hundred years in business, four generations, and the family is still at the helm. For Almer and Siep Anema, this anniversary year took on an even more special meaning today. Mayor De Vries presented them with the Súdwest-Fryslân Municipality’s Entrepreneur Award.

A company that has been in business for a hundred years is unique in itself, but the fact that this milestone is also being marked with an official municipal recognition makes it a moment for the Anema family to truly reflect. For Almer Anema, representing the fourth generation, it is a special moment to accept the recognition alongside his father, Siep. Both serve as directors of the company and thus jointly lead the family business that began in Arum in 1926.

What once began as a small village business grew over the course of a century into a leading player in the earthmoving equipment industry, with sales, rentals, service, and maintenance as its key pillars. But according to the family, behind that growth lies, above all, a story of people, generations, and pulling together. “The fact that we are receiving this recognition in our 100th year makes it even more special. It’s a wonderful acknowledgment of what four generations have built together. But we also see it as a tribute to all our employees, customers, and business partners who have been part of our story over the years,” says Almer Anema.

From an anniversary to a charity

The Entrepreneur Award wasn’t the only special moment of the day. The anniversary raffle for the Develon DX10Z-7 also officially came to a close today. The winning ticket was drawn under the supervision of a notary. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the lucky winner on this special prize. The raffle also took on a significance that goes beyond simply celebrating Anema’s centennial. The proceeds from the anniversary campaign will go to the Princess Máxima Center, which supports children with cancer. Next week, the Anema family will personally deliver the check to the Princess Máxima Center. During that visit, the final amount of the donation will also be announced.

Thus, September 10 became a day marked by two special moments: a day on which a century of entrepreneurship was celebrated and a new chapter was added to the family’s story. With Siep as the third generation and Almer as the fourth generation at the helm, the Anema family looks back with pride on a century of history and looks ahead with confidence.
