JOB OPENING: Asset Manager for Movable Artworks

JOB OPENING: Asset Manager for Movable Artworks

Would you like to play a key role in the future of our provincial infrastructure? Then become our new asset manager for movable bridges and locks.

The province of North Holland manages and maintains approximately 550 bridges, 10 locks, and more than 250 kilometers of waterways and their banks. We manage these structures in a sustainable, safe, future-proof, and efficient manner, with you playing a central role as an asset manager. Your most important task? Weighing the options, bringing stakeholders together, and above all: making decisions.

Your Job

Together with your colleagues, you ensure a safe and reliable infrastructure while also maintaining a livable environment. You feel a sense of responsibility for this as well. Your role? Achieving our asset management objectives by continuously balancing performance, risks, opportunities, and costs.  You will develop and implement the asset management plan for the province’s movable structures, such as movable bridges and locks. You will monitor implementation and make adjustments as needed. Part of this involves implementing an asset management system (BMS). You’re always looking ahead. What will be needed in the future for the management and maintenance of these structures? And what developments can help us with this? You’ll translate these insights into a proposal for the multi-year planning program.

As an asset manager, everything comes together through you. You connect specialties, departments, and colleagues—from bridge and lock operators and technical experts to area managers, strategists, and financial advisors. You gather their input and ensure that we achieve our goals together. Your position is also relatively new within the province. That’s great, because it means you’ll have plenty of freedom to further shape this role and build a professional asset management organization together with us. At the same time, this is a major responsibility that requires making substantive decisions. That’s why you need to be confident and self-assured. In short, a varied job full of exciting challenges awaits you!

Here's what we offer

  • A gross monthly salary between €5,118.26 and €7,233.84 (scale 12) based on a 36-hour workweek. This does not include the Individual Choice Budget of approximately 22% of your gross monthly salary, which you can use, among other things, to exchange for additional days off.
  • A budget of €6,000 every 5 years for training. In addition, there are other learning opportunities, because your professional development is important to us. You can also use part of the budget to stay energetic and fit on the job.
  • An annual pay raise of 3%, up to the top of your pay scale.
  • A good pension plan to which the province contributes.
  • Full reimbursement for commuting and business travel when using public transportation.
  • A one-year contract, with the intention of offering you a permanent contract at the end of that year.
  • Our office is our base of operations. In consultation with you, we offer the option to work from home. We’ll provide a desk, monitor, and other equipment so you can set up your home office properly.

And that's not all. Read more at www.noord-holland.nl/werkenbij what you can continue to count on as a colleague at Noord-Holland.

This is where you'll be working

As an asset manager, you’ll be part of the Strategy unit, which is part of the Management Strategy and Programming (BSP) sector. This department has recently been reorganized, so not only is your role new, but the team is too. That’s really exciting, because together with our current and new employees, you’ll help shape the team. What sets your immediate colleagues apart? Enthusiasm, drive, and expertise. And they’re very diverse in terms of personality, age, experience, and background. It’s an inspiring environment where we learn a lot and share our knowledge. Another great thing about working for our province: the lines of communication are short. You can simply approach the administrators and contribute to policy-making.

  • Strategic; you contribute ideas at the business management level and are aware of what’s happening within our organization and beyond.
  • Connecting; you work well with others and bring people and resources together.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Academic level of work and thinking, preferably in industrial engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of relevant experience in asset management, for example in the process industry, civil engineering, infrastructure engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of asset management principles (ISO 55001)
  • An interest in movable bridges and locks and their management.
