A premium product is only truly valuable if the service behind it is just as good. That is the conviction with which Erland Morelissen has been building on the foundation laid by founder Henk Saes over the past 34 years, ever since the acquisition of Saes International. The focus is not on the machines themselves, but on the operational readiness of hydraulic attachments and the continuity of the customer’s operations.
“At Saes, we capitalize ”service,“” says Erland. “Our customers need to be able to count on their replacement parts being available when it counts. Ultimately, it’s all about productivity. Downtime costs money.”
This vision aligns seamlessly with the reputation Saes International has built over the years. The Weert-based company specializes in hydraulic attachments and represents premium brands such as Epiroc, Erkat, ESTM, LaBounty, SAES, VTN, and Xcentric. From its base in the Benelux, it supports customers in a wide range of sectors, including demolition, recycling, earthmoving, dredging, infrastructure, and specialized underwater work.
Erland brings with him a broad background in technical and capital-intensive markets. There, he learned that the lowest purchase price is by no means always the best investment. “It’s about the total costs over the lifetime of a product or service versus the returns. A premium add-on that’s much more productive and remains virtually always available often yields a higher return in the long run than a cheaper alternative,” he says. “That optimal balance between investment, availability, and productivity has always fascinated me.”
Erland wants to further develop this way of thinking within Saes International. “Not by radically changing the company, but rather by further strengthening its existing strengths. An expert service team, in-depth industry knowledge, and strong customer relationships form the foundation for this.”
In addition, Erland sees clear trends in the market. “More and more, the focus is shifting from ownership to usage.” That is why Saes International wants to further expand its rental operations. “We closely monitor customer demand and continuously track developments, both in the Netherlands and abroad. After all, we still see plenty of growth opportunities beyond our national borders.” At the same time, the company is deliberately maintaining a sharp focus. Saes International does not want to become a rental company for complete machines, but rather remain the leading specialist in hydraulic attachments.
Whether it involves demolition work, dredging projects, or complex underwater applications, the specialists at Saes International support clients not only from Weert but also at project sites whenever necessary. With this acquisition, founder Henk Saes is confidently passing on his life’s work. “In Erland, I have found a successor who approaches the company with the same conviction with which I built it.”
For Erland, this is above all a responsibility. “We have a strong team, a premium brand portfolio, and an excellent reputation in the market. My ambition is to build on that further, without losing sight of our core mission: helping customers be as productive as possible every day.”
