A sustainable and comfortable home base for a major project

A large-scale project such as the renovation of the Krammersluizen complex requires a comfortable and future-proof workspace for the people who will be working on it for years to come. Leave that to the experts at K&A Houtbouw. The family-owned company from Groot-Ammers, which has been active in the construction of formwork systems for over 30 years, provided housing for the project team and the construction site staff.

As one of the first contractors on the construction site, K&A Group delivered an impressive main site office measuring 12 by 63 meters, spread over two floors. The guardhouse was also built at the factory in Groot-Ammers. “”We are currently working on an extension to the main site office, which will also include a collaboration space, and on the installation of an additional CAO site office,“ says Anne-Wil Kroon, commercial advisor at K&A Group, who runs the family business together with her brother Pieter Jr. ‘We’ve essentially built an entire ’village” where contractors, the client, and other stakeholders work together every day.”

Maximum flexibility

According to Anne-Wil, the strength of a modular office lies in its flexibility. “The units are built from individual panels, which allows for complete freedom in the layout. Project teams can set up offices, meeting rooms, and workspaces exactly as they wish and easily adjust them later as the organization grows. That’s exactly what’s happening right now, as the project team is expanding and needs additional office space.‘ In addition to flexibility, sustainability also plays an important role. ’The units were built from scratch by K&A Group and equipped with solar panels, climate control systems, and high-quality insulation. ”This makes the units energy-efficient and comfortable to use. The wooden design also creates a warm and pleasant work environment.“

The neutral white appearance of the buildings is striking. “Construction trailers used to be painted in a contractor’s colors, but nowadays clients are increasingly opting for a neutral look that reflects the collaboration among all project partners,” Anne-Wil notes. The trailers were purchased for the project but will remain valuable afterward. “Once the project is complete, they can easily be dismantled and reused on a subsequent project.”
