Volvo Trucks continues to excel in Euro NCAP safety tests. In the latest assessment, the Volvo FM once again achieves the maximum possible score of five stars. With this, seven Volvo truck models have now received a five-star score from Euro NCAP. It again underscores Volvo's clear focus on safety.
Euro NCAP's latest rating is based on an independent test in which the organization focused on trucks in the regional distribution segment. Volvo Trucks participated with the Volvo FM in a 4×2 rigid truck configuration. As in previous tests, this truck was also awarded the maximum score of five stars for safety performance.
“Once again, we see clear evidence that Volvo is delivering on its promise: safety is at the heart of everything we do,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “We continue to innovate to stay at the forefront of safety and to protect both drivers and all other road users.”

All Volvo truck models assessed by Euro NCAP not only achieved the maximum safety score, but also met Euro NCAP's so-called City Safe criteria. This is due to good direct visibility from the cab as well as the strong performance of Volvo's active safety systems, which are designed to protect vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists in urban traffic situations.
Volvo became the first truck manufacturer to receive the maximum score of five stars in 2024, when Euro NCAP first introduced a safety test for heavy commercial vehicles.
The following seven Volvo truck models have so far received the maximum score of five stars in Euro NCAP's safety ratings:
A five-star rating from Euro NCAP means that a truck meets or even exceeds requirements in areas such as driver assistance and collision avoidance, thus contributing to greater road safety for both the driver and other road users.
Volvo Trucks' vision of an accident-free future is the compass in its ongoing commitment to further improve vehicle and road safety. Volvo Trucks continues to develop safety systems that not only protect, but also predict potential hazards and help prevent accidents or reduce their impact.

The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP), based in Belgium, was established in 1996 and quickly grew to become the European standard for assessing the safety of passenger cars. The program is supported by several European governments, including the European Union.
In the truck test, each safety system is given a score. These scores are aggregated by assessment component and combine to form a final score of one to five stars for the entire vehicle, with five stars representing the best possible performance. The scope of the truck test consists of:
Euro NCAP's goal is to expand the test scope incrementally, including crash protection at a later stage and testing in other transportation segments.
