Kokosystems delivers Noise-Reducer® noise barriers at De Lier and Veenendaal
Noise-Reducer® noise barriers are also in place at the N233 ring road in Veenendaal as an effective noise measure.

Kokosystems supplies Noise-Reducer® noise barriers at De Lier and Veenendaal

Within the civil engineering sector, Kokosystems is best known for its noise barriers with a natural look thanks to the use of coconut fiber. "But in addition to our well-known Kokowall® noise barriers, we also supply Noise-Reducer® noise barriers," says Arjan Kick, project manager at Kokosystems. "At least as effective, low-maintenance and with a long lifespan." This type of screen, based on mineral wool and fully green coated, was recently applied to projects in De Lier and Veenendaal.

High sound absorption and insulation

The Noise-Reducer® screens are constructed of a lightweight steel structure with a layer of highly absorbent mineral wool on the outside, shielded with a PE fleece, a plastic separator net and a galvanized steel mesh mat. The inside consists of a sound-insulating steel plate. "Thanks to this construction, we combine high sound absorption and insulation with minimal maintenance requirements," Kick continued. "The screens are a Dutch invention, are fully recyclable and can be overgrown with climbing plants, which contributes to biodiversity and air quality." The advantage of these green noise screens is that they immediately have a green look, which in some situations is more in keeping with the surroundings.

Screen for new residential area in De Lier

Along the eastern ring road in De Lier, South Holland - commissioned by project developer BPD Ontwikkeling - a screen of approximately 525 meters in length and 3.5 meters in height has been installed. The screen borders the future Wilgenbuurt neighborhood and a nearby school site. The panels used are coated on both sides with a layer of highly absorbent mineral wool and finished with a PE fleece, plastic separator net and steel mesh mat. All galvanized materials were double-layer powder coated in RAL 6007 (Bottle Green). Kokosystems manufactured and supplied the panels; installation was performed by Holland Scherm.

Along the N233 in Veenendaal

"We also installed a screen along the N233 ring road in Veenendaal," Kick explains. "The increase in traffic and housing construction around the new Groenpoort district requires effective noise measures, so a Noise-Reducer® noise screen was installed about 1,500 meters long and 5 meters high, in collaboration with Knipscheer Infra."

Sustainable choice within civil engineering

According to Kick, this system fits well within the current requirements of both clients. "Because the screens are produced entirely in the Netherlands, this not only offers logistical advantages, but also ensures full control over quality and durability." Both projects demonstrate the growing need for effective noise reduction in places where new residential areas border busier infrastructure. The screens applied there provide a functional and future-proof noise measure.
