Emission-free tree management: tree specialist is forerunner Zero-emission

Battery technology is developing so rapidly that the performance of electrically driven machines is barely less than machines that run on gasoline or diesel. So knows Boomrooij Weijtmans, which invested early on in the transition. As of 2019, it has invested heavily in the electrification of its machinery, its own power generation and the development of a huge solar farm system. All investments and efforts are being rewarded, as the company is increasingly being awarded contracts where emission-free operation is a pre or requirement.

CEO Kees Weijtmans: "Emission-free work ensures that projects that would stagnate because of the nitrogen issue can still go ahead." With over 100 years of experience, the tree specialist, in addition to felling and pruning, is involved in the complete management and maintenance of trees and forests. They do this for private individuals, government agencies and large companies such as TenneT. Thanks to multi-year contracts with renowned contractors and parties such as the Department of Public Works, Weijtmans can frequently be seen nationwide along roads, canals and the railroad, where it is called in for tree maintenance or renovation projects.

Emission-free

Weijtmans has also invested in flexible battery containers and a charging station at their company location in Udenhout. "These containers are charged by our own solar panels. Thanks to the storage capacity of 1,600 kWh, we can power projects for several days and carry them out completely emission-free."

Positive reactions

Clients respond very positively, says Weijtmans. "Besides the reduced emissions, the absence of noise and odor pollution is also considered very pleasant. And clients say they are surprised at the speed and flexibility that can be achieved today with electric equipment."
