Max Bögl Netherlands is facing the large-scale renewal challenge and energy transition. This was already evident at the 2023 edition of InfraTech with the crowning achievement of winning the innovation prize for the Modular Viaduct Bögl. At the upcoming edition of InfraTech, the multi-faceted company will put the spotlight on its Energy Division, among other things, because Max Bögl has high ambitions in the energy market.
The Modular Viaduct Bögl is one of the solutions for the major renewal task in infrastructure, begins Mike Rijnbeek, director of Energy and New Markets at Max Bögl Netherlands. "It is a complete bridge system from prefabricated elements that we prepare completely in our factory and is suitable for spans between 21 and 40 meters. The concept is standardized, demountable, reusable and thus fully circular. Good news, moreover, is that in the meantime the validation and ROK at the Department of Public Works has been completed, making the Modular Viaduct Bögl applicable to all projects of the Department of Public Works, which of course also offers opportunities and guarantees for other clients." Mike mentions that the concept is currently part of several tenders.
New for Max Bögl Netherlands is entering the energy market. "We set up a separate Energy Division for this in 2024," says Mike. And with success, as the first project has already been taken on. "In combination, we entered into a framework agreement with Alliander to expand and reinforce the medium-voltage grid in the Rijnland region for the next six years with an extension option of up to six years. It is a great milestone for us as Max Bögl Netherlands and a great start of a new department. The transition phase has been completed and the first construction teams have started up. We expect to go public in 2025."
Max Bögl Netherlands has high ambitions in the energy market. "We want to grow significantly in this in the coming years," says Mara Ririassa, managing director of Max Bögl Netherlands. "Although it is a new market for us, our parent organization in Germany has been active in this market for much longer. We are therefore making grateful use of their knowledge, expertise and clout. Nevertheless, we are approaching the energy market in the Netherlands with new and fresh ideas. We are thinking differently, more progressive, and are, for example, looking more serially at the construction of stations and the underground and above-ground network. In this, there is an important role for our own precast concrete and steel plants."
Mara also foresees plenty of opportunities for Max Bögl Netherlands in the water market. "This often includes a large concrete component. But above all we continue to do what we are good at: building (steel) bridges, underground structures! It is mainly the multidisciplinary projects in which we have a lot of experience and can really make a difference. We not only have the knowledge and experience, but also the competence to properly tie all the different disciplines together." So we are going to see many more novelties and innovations from Max Bögl Netherlands in the coming years.
