New heavy truck range aimed at driver

New heavy truck range aimed at driver

In the truck world, cabs and models last much longer than in passenger cars, for example. Iveco's current cab generation, used on its heavy-duty models for long-haul, heavy-duty distribution and yard trucks, dates back a very long time. But eventually the shelf life comes to an end, and Iveco launched the new S-Way, as the first vehicle in the new Iveco Way heavy-duty range.

The new Iveco was presented in Madrid for a reason. Iveco is still often presented as an Italian company, but it was created by the fusion of three Italian brands (Fiat, OM and Lancia), a German brand (Magirus-Deutz) and a French brand (Unic). Iveco's production sites are spread throughout Europe. With the acquisition of the Spanish truck brand Pegaso, the group has a production site in Madrid, hence the presentation of the S-Way in the Spanish capital, where Iveco's heavy trucks are assembled.

Wide range of trucks for all applications

Iveco is a brand of CNH Industrial NV. The company designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, off-road trucks and vehicles for applications such as off-road missions. Iveco's wide range includes the Daily (3.3 - 7.2 tons), the Eurocargo van (6 - 19 tons), the Trakker (especially for off-road missions) and the Iveco Way range with the Iveco S-Way on road and the Iveco X-Way for light off-road missions. In addition, the Iveco Astra brand builds off-road trucks, rigid and articulated tippers and special vehicles.

A new showpiece

Iveco is also launching with the new S-Way the harbinger of the new Iveco Way heavy-range. This represents a strong shift toward offering customers an integrated transport solution, economically and environmentally sustainable, where the services around the product become more important than the product itself. Remarkably, little or nothing has changed under the brand-new cab. The new S-Way is mainly innovative in terms of the cabin, while the technology was largely carried over from the existing and most recent vehicles. The main focus here is on attention to the driver, sustainability and a new level of connectivity aimed at lowering the Total Cost of Ownership.

Entirely driver-oriented

The cabin is entirely driver-oriented, with a design that offers first-class living and working conditions, with a spacious environment, excellent driving ergonomics and a well-planned layout that combines functionality with comfort. Safety is another theme here, for example through much better all-round visibility (though still with classic mirrors and no cameras). The new design was extensively tested to further improve aerodynamic performance. This resulted in a reduction in fuel consumption for the S-Way by 4%.

100% connected truck

It is the trend of our time, trucks need to be 100% connected. Therefore, in the new S-Way we find an advanced Connectivity Box. This is a powerful tool, enabling connectivity. It collects, processes and exchanges data in real time. It operates on a service platform and was developed in collaboration with Microsoft, which offers secure data storage and management and many value-added services. Owners and drivers are constantly connected to the vehicle on their mobile device or PC via the user-friendly My IVECO portal and app.

The connectivity is deployed both to improve the life of the driver on board and to help logistics operators ensure the profitability of their business by maximizing vehicle uptime, providing consistent and predictive service with My IVECO Way Solutions and delivering low Total Cost of Ownership. It also unlocks a new range of premium personalized services, including professional fuel advice, fleet management and maintenance, to optimize fleet performance and efficiency.
