Bonneveld takes complete building envelope out of hands

Bonneveld is a specialist contracting company and has traditionally specialized in the dry and wet excavation of excavation pits of all shapes and sizes. Thanks to years of experience and extensive machinery with the most special attachments, the family business takes up no challenge. Increasingly often Bonneveld, in cooperation with a foundation party, takes over the entire construction pit from a client, including deep/CSM/dam walls, piles, anchors, drainage, excavation, diving and underwater concrete. In short, the whole picture. 

We feel at home in the construction pit and encounter them in all shapes and sizes, begins Harry van der Heiden, director of Bonneveld. "We often sit down with a foundation company in the preliminary phase to come up with the most optimal design that is also workable. Especially within urban areas, where the cofferdam sometimes takes up the entire lot, it is important to think outside the box to come up with an efficient working method. Leave that to us." At the time of writing, Bonneveld is excavating three extensive underwater tubs and some twenty-five(!) dry tubs. "We don't care about the dimensions of the tub; we are equipped to excavate both large and small pits."

Knowledge of business

Bonneveld's machinery fleet is quite impressive, including ten large crawler cranes, four of which are equipped with a long boom with a reach of up to 18 meters. Various shovels and mini excavators as well as a huge fleet of attachments and attachments make the family business completely self-sufficient. "Over the years we have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience, also of the various disciplines that we interface with, such as sheet piling, anchors, drainage and pile systems," says Anco van der Heiden, son of Harry and together with brother Leon and Stefan Albers part of the management. "This way we always find the most efficient methodology, without surprises in the planning. A good example was the tub of the Pontkade in Amsterdam with a whole bunch of foundation piles. We excavated the cofferdam between the piles and under the outrigger frames in a very controlled way and precisely according to plan. Something like that only works with expertise."

Pole mattresses

One specialty where soil and foundation work come closely together is in the realization of a pile mattress, a combination of a pile foundation with a reinforced earth course on top. You can wake the Bonneveld company up at night for that too. "Such a pile mattress contains a particularly large number of piles. On those piles we apply concrete pile covers on which the settlement-free layer is built up," Harry explains. "We have already helped build up a large number of these structures, including for the Waddinxveen ring road and on the RijnlandRoute. We often do this in collaboration with Joosten Concepts according to the OLA principle: design, supply and install. A combination that guarantees the best result." Bonneveld is also very strong in realizing reinforced soil constructions with EPS. "We also do that together with Joosten Concepts, and throughout the country, from foundations for wind turbines on the Maasvlakte to the ring road of Groningen."

Thinking along with the client is paramount at Bonneveld. "That makes us in demand for the most challenging projects, but we certainly don't feel too big to bring smaller projects to a successful conclusion as well. We do that with just as much enthusiasm," Harry assures.
