The world is changing rapidly and so is the way data is used to make decisions. Data and automation are an important basis for making reliable predictions in ground and construction work. The advance of digitization and automation offers an opportunity to meet infrastructure challenges in an affordable, environmentally responsible and labor-saving way.
Coenradie used the Basetime Locator One monitoring solution during the renovation of the Haringvliet Bridge to gather precise information about movements of the bridge foundation. Different types of sensors were attached to the bridge to obtain a reliable picture of movements caused by changing load, temperature and other factors. With the Locator One, absolute 3D deformation measurements are made, focusing on vertical.
A major motivation for Coenradie's choice to deploy the Locator One is the fully autonomous operation of the system after installation, in part because the Locator One provides its own power supply. The reliable and redundant storage of all measurement data makes it possible to perform a range of analyses. The consistent delivery of comprehensive daily measurement data contributes to increased control over the project and provides greater security during the execution of the work.
Coenradie independently installed the Locator Ones and set up the reference station. Behind the scenes, Basetime's experts provided advice on the most optimal installation and monitored all 3D movements - no matter how small - throughout the project. Through Basetime's dashboard, Coenradie has direct access to the collected data, which they can effortlessly view and download. Based on the downloaded data, Coenradie's specialists further analyzed the significant deformation using their own algorithms.
When setting up the dashboard, the user can decide how often to measure per day. For the Haringvliet project, an interval of 24 measurements per day was chosen, allowing reliable deformation data to be obtained.
Sander Schroeder of Coenradie: "The cooperation with Basetime has enabled us, as project owner, to be firmly in control even remotely. Fewer travel movements and no more people than necessary on the construction site. By using the right sensors, we can deploy our people where they are truly indispensable and add the most value. Our method of working with the system has far exceeded our expectations beforehand. A great choice for this project and a no-brainer for future projects."
Martijn Arkesteijn of Basetime: "The example of the Haringvliet Bridge illustrates very well how the Locator One can be used to collect reliable, precise and absolute movement data with a solution that every customer can install and monitor themselves. We also see customers choosing the Locator One for things like durability and increased safety. Not to mention that the Locator One can be used for multiple applications."
