Even more safety on construction sites thanks to smart detection systems

Safety first on the construction site

This year and next, Brigade Electronics is introducing a number of innovations beyond individual vehicle safety. And Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also going to play an increasing role in Brigade's safety systems.

"For every vehicle, we have a safety system. Brigade takes on every challenge to come up with an appropriate solution," said Nikki Collignon, marketing director at Brigade Electronics. The company develops and supplies camera systems, obstacle detection systems and reversing alarms for construction vehicles and plant machinery, among other things. "The focus on safety in areas such as building, construction, distribution, road building, quarries and mines is increasing. This is of course a positive and important development. Our focus is entirely on safety, which is why last year we tried to create even more awareness around this topic with the Brigade Tough campaign."

Helicopter perspective

As long as accidents continue to happen while working with vehicles, Brigade's main focus remains safety. "We take on challenges, also build systems, for example, on vehicles operating at airports, on rollers and telescopic handlers, you name it." Brigade Electronics builds safety systems in and on existing vehicles. For even greater safety, Brigade developed, among other things, a 360 system with four cameras that displays a helicopter perspective on the monitor. And with its radar system, a vehicle detects if something is coming up behind it.

Innovations

Brigade Electronics will soon introduce some fine innovations that go beyond individual vehicle safety. Its mission is to reduce the number of fatal accidents to zero. Collignon: "No accidents at all is our ideal image. That is why we are working every day to develop even better products." For example, the Brigade Fusion will be on the market in early 2024. This is a combination of various applications for construction parks and larger construction sites with which optimal safety on the construction site can be obtained. Brigade Electronics is also doing more and more with Artificial Intelligence (AI). "Soon we will launch AI cameras that visually alert drivers when people are approaching a vehicle. The system predicts the likelihood of an accident."

Zone-Safe system

Securing people is another smart way to prevent accidents. For example, many forklifts drive around in warehouses. With Brigade's Zone-Safe system, employees are equipped with a tag that can be detected by a system in the forklift truck. The driver is thus alerted as soon as someone comes too close to the vehicle.

These and other new products, among others, will be on display at Brigade Stand 409 at MATEXPO from Sept. 6-10, 2023 in Kortrijk XPO.
