The Occupational Health and Safety Decree (Article 7.4) requires that all work equipment, depending on deployment and use, be inspected annually, and the person conducting the inspection must be demonstrably competent. AMTeK is an inspection system from Aboma that trains technicians to perform their own inspections at their convenience. The AMTeK system is very versatile. "A digital report is created of every piece of equipment inspected," Rovers explains. "The beauty of this is that you can extract valuable information from it. This is because each line in the report is provided with a code. Using smart algorithms, you can very easily retrieve information from the system about comments made or points that have been rejected, based on data from reports created. As an inspector, you then know where you need to pay extra attention next time, raising the level of inspection. The detailed information from machines also provides valuable insights for preventive maintenance. For example, if it emerges that certain components in machines older than five years are malfunctioning or showing defects, you could replace them preventively. In this way, the knife cuts both ways."
So self-inspection under AMTeK is not only cost-saving, it also contributes to efficiency and knowledge enhancement on the shop floor, as well as to the longevity of your equipment. "By gathering data about your own machinery through AMTeK, you can ultimately prevent downtime. So that makes the inspection system very effective. It is also extremely flexible. We don't work with spot checks, refresher courses or re-examinations, but as I said, we believe in annual guidance. This allows us to respond much more flexibly to current events and demonstrate that an inspector is truly competent. A win-win situation," concludes Rovers.
