The certification counter for the GWW sector

The certification counter for the GWW sector.

With the recent addition of ISO 27001 to its portfolio of services, Normec Certification is making another great move. As part of the Normec Group, the company is happy to help market parties prove their approach and expertise through certification. This is done with an extraordinarily colorful palette from which companies active within the GWW can also reap the full benefits....

You can also turn to Normec Certification for soil-related certifications.

With ISO 27001, the one-stop-shopping concept of Normec Certification, the Netherlands' largest certification body in the field of quality, environment and security, is gaining more substance. "You can come to us for all certifications," said commercial director Arjen Werkmeester. "So one example is 27001, the international standard in the field of information security. But also when it comes to other, common certification schemes within the GWW sector, our own auditors are happy to assist the contractor. One example is the Contractor Safety Checklist. This two-level certificate lays the foundation for safe, healthy and sustainable work in various areas."

Step by step up

One scheme that is increasingly being demanded as a valuable supplement to SCC, partly because of the Governance Code Safety in Construction, is the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL). Normec Certification is also providing the assessment and final certification for this scheme, which will become mandatory on January 1, 2022. "With SCL certification, organizations are literally betting on an even higher level of safety and safety awareness," explains Werkmeester. "Whereas SCC is primarily an instrument for complying with health and safety regulations, within SCL it is mainly about what is alive among employees and what drives them to work safely or not. In order to map this out, our own auditors interview the entire operational staff. This creates a clear and complete picture of the safety policy pursued. And what's also great: the client himself decides on which of the five levels of the ladder he wants to climb. The higher up the ladder, the tougher the requirements that must be met. Now that we have been working with this scheme for over a year, it is great to see that companies are actually moving up the ladder. Where most clients previously started at step 2, some of them are already a level higher. Some are even already moving up to the fourth step!"

Good for the planet

The civil engineering and infrastructure sector is also becoming increasingly convinced that tough measures must be taken to slow down the ongoing climate change. Normec Certification sees this development reflected in a growing demand for regulations and certificates that provide for this, such as the ISO 14001 environmental management system and the CO2 performance ladder. "Beyond the growing awareness, clients around tenders and tenders are even increasingly making such certifications mandatory," said Werkmeester. "A good thing for our planet."
