PFAS, nitrogen, Chromium VI, corona, the war in Ukraine... Unforeseen events always result in a new reality. With an adaptive attitude and a focus on cooperation, TBI company Croonwolter&dros is able to overcome these in a constructive way. Together with clients, with partners and with the environment.
Because, only together do we create progress.
Over the next few years, the infrastructure sector faces a huge replacement and renovation task for structures and objects built in the 1960s and 1970s, begins Remmy Uffen, Manager of Commercial & Tendering Infra at Croonwolter&dros. "For the installations, our area of expertise, it often means a replacement. What was agreed upon or conceived in the past is often no longer representative, regardless of the many external factors and influences. It requires a certain agility from all partners to jointly cope with changing circumstances. This makes the infrastructure sector a very interesting market for the future. In doing so, we apply the philosophy of keeping what is green, green and making all the gray more intelligent with our technology."
According to Celeste Martens, Manager Technology & Development, Croonwolter&dros employs people with the right competencies to match the changing demand. "Content experts who don't look only at the technology with blinders on, but who also know how to appreciate the importance of the stakeholders and the environment. And at the right time have the conversation about it. In this way to jointly arrive at a well-considered solution and to strive for a good balance of risks." A good example is the 2-phase approach for the maintenance and renovation of Tunnel Swalmen and the Roertunnel in the A73 next summer. For the design process, Croonwolter&dros is pulling together with the client. "Because we already handle regular maintenance, we can bring in our practical experience to make the right choices in the design," says Uffen. "Going through the design process together first ensures a more balanced distribution of risks. Moreover, with that data, the previously anticipated approach to realization can be adjusted."
Innovation is only successful when we create something that the client is willing to pay for, Martens emphasizes. "When is that the case? When we fulfill the need in a sustainable way. So identifying that need is crucial and requires optimal cooperation." Future issues, whether due to unforeseen events or not, require different competencies, Uffen adds. "Competence is a combination of knowledge, attitude and behavior. From our organization we are therefore putting more effort into changing the attitude and behavior of our people, especially with more empathy. More demand-related, rather than supply-driven. We don't think only from a technical point of view, but mainly about how our installations contribute integrally to the performance of a work of art." Martens: "In addition, we are very aware of the fact that our efforts, especially in large-scale replacement operations, are disruptive to traffic flow. That is why we do everything we can to keep that to a minimum, sometimes even considering replacing certain installations at a later stage. It requires optimal coordination with all stakeholders. That too is working together."
