In Ede, construction is underway on new Ede-Wageningen station, two new underpasses under the railroad and a widening of the Albert Tunnel. All in all, a complex inner-city project with a lead time of several years. Save Traffic Netherlands has been engaged to take the accompanying temporary traffic measures for each phase in order to guarantee safety and intended traffic flow.
Save Traffic Netherlands specializes in the advice, design and implementation of temporary traffic measures. "Often we are already involved in the tender phase, where we can make the most of our expertise in the field of temporary traffic measures that are usually laid down in a comprehensive traffic plan. In this case, we jumped on the 'moving train' at contractor combination EdesPoort to get the agreements made from the tender done as quickly as possible," says Jelmar Eggink, traffic manager at Save Traffic Netherlands. "That poses no problem for us either. Thanks to a large network, good contacts with the road authorities and short lines of communication internally."
Save Traffic Netherlands has been involved in the project since late last year. "The arrangements are such that we are in direct contact with the various parties within the contractor combination," says Jelmar Eggink. "After all, it is an extensive project with many phases and disciplines for which individual measures all have to be taken. On the other hand, we obviously have to take into account the interests from the municipality, ProRail and many other stakeholders. For each phase we devise the deployment of temporary traffic measures, which are then discussed within the project team and submitted to the municipality to arrive at a broadly supported implementation plan." Rik Jaspers Faijer, director-owner of Save Traffic Netherlands, adds: "We will of course also take care of the implementation of all measures. We have a lot of equipment in stock at our three locations and can consider ourselves fortunate to have an enthusiastic club of employees, such as traffic managers, designers, implementers and mechanics."
The municipality of Ede is no stranger to Save Traffic Netherlands. "We are currently involved in a number of essential and long-term projects in Ede, such as the construction of the new ring road, the Parklaan. This means that we not only have very intensive contact with the municipality, but also have a good overview of the various projects in order to coordinate temporary traffic measures where possible," says Jaspers Faijer. That's definitely where our strength lies, Eggink believes. "Weighing up all the interests with each other and making the right choices in that, which allows the work to be carried out as efficiently as possible while minimizing inconvenience and disruption to traffic." Jaspers Faijer: "And where safety is leading at all times. Especially in these types of inner-city, complex projects with many stakeholders, this is quite a challenge. However, these are the projects that suit us best and where we can really make a difference."
