Temporary bridge structures for various purposes and at any desired location

In recent years, Gigant Temporary Infrastructures has realized temporary, publicly accessible infrastructures such as bridges, stairs, ramps and floor structures at home and abroad.

Gigant has its origins in the events industry and takes its more than 35 years of expertise and experience to the construction and infrastructure industry. "As specialists in designing, building and constructing, we have specific temporary infrastructure solutions for every project." Speaking is Raymond van Noort, manager of sales & marketing at Gigant International BV. Publicly accessible

"All our bridges are publicly accessible and temporary in nature. These include pedestrian bridges, bicycle and moped bridges, bridges over roadways, railroads or water. Often their purpose is to minimize disruption to the public and bystanders from a construction project."

Free spans from 2 to 22 meters

"Our bridges are built with free spans from 2 meters to 22 meters with a maximum floor load of 500 kg/m^2. If the bridge has a different application and is not freely accessible then even larger spans can be built, albeit with a lower floor load," says Van Noort.

Customization in every situation

Gigant builds mainly with the Layher-Allround system and with products developed in-house (TÜV certified). The widths of the bridge constructions are variable and are built modularly, making construction in almost any width possible. "The advantage of our modular system is also that we can work at any location without the need for earth moving. We absorb height differences through the right choice of materials. This allows pressure distribution over multiple outriggers and we build a semi-permanent structure without adjustments on the infra."

Quick assembly

In response to changing regulations and the demand for aesthetically pleasing solutions, Gigant developed its own 'beams'. A special beam that can accommodate structures four, five and six meters wide in a slender manner. "Usually with these kinds of dimensions, they are quite large clunky structures," Van Noort explains. "But with these beams, we can develop not only structurally but also slender structures and already achieve that span in one go. On top of that, the spans are less high and the access can also be adjusted accordingly, which in turn saves material and labor. It is really seen as an advantage of our system that we can do all the preparatory work at ground level. The (prefabricated) elements are quickly placed by crane or forklift truck. Almost all bridges can be placed by us within an hour, making for a very temporary road closure."

Overall

Gigant not only builds the bridge structure, but offers the total picture, including accessibility. "Of course, we make our bridges passable by means of a stairway construction or a ramp. These are available in any width and height. Depending on the user profile and the set requirements they must meet, we determine together with the client which stairs or ramps will be used." Van Noort concludes, "Fall protection, control work, child-friendly, we ensure that all requirements of the building code are met."
