In 30 years, ABX sawmij has grown into a company with a wealth of experience in asphalt and concrete cutting. With flexible agile saws and powerful saw trucks, ABX sawmij can handle anything.

Director Dirk van Gelder explains: "The concrete drilling business is a very broad field. We decided, unlike all the others, to concentrate on a small part of it, infra/road construction. We have a huge production capacity that we can use very efficiently. Thanks to our flexible multifunctional team, we can even double up on all the equipment. As a result, we can handle almost anything, from small rush jobs in between, to running 24 hours a day on a large project."

ABX sawmill's strength lies in the combination of an engaged team and the type of machinery the company uses. "We discovered how to work very efficiently with heavy power machines. This has many advantages. In road construction, we are one of the few, if not the only ones, who work this way." Past years have come through very well, Van Gelder says. "Among other things, we worked on the Circuit Zandvoort. This work was extra fun to do because of the location. We went around the track countless times to complete all the work. The circuit was partially widened, new racing lines had to be installed and, for example, we also had to cut wide for drainage between the curbstones."

On the road to electric sawing

The saw specialist has been working on the development of an electric saw machine for two years. The prototype, after some setbacks with component supply, should be available in early 2022. "With this we are taking an important step toward greater sustainability in our industry. A sawing machine consumes an enormous amount of fuel, so there is a lot of emission savings to be made here. If our prototype can run for a whole day on batteries, this also offers prospects for other machines."
