"Nibbling on height" to Heerlen high-rise buildings

There is no finer way to describe the specialized demolition of a 10-story building in Heerlen. This description comes from Henk Saes, who leases to Van Vliet Sloopwerken BV a VTN HP21 demolition shear. "This 2 ton demolition shears for 22 to 30 ton machines is equipped with a speed valve which results in faster opening and closing of the shears. With this you are not only figuratively 'nibbling', but also literally," said Henk Saes.

"The VTN HP21 demolition shear is mounted on the 160 ton Hitachi 870 with demolition boom, from Van Vliet Demolition Works," Leon Copier of Van Vliet informs us. "Normally we would use a larger shear, however, we had to watch the weight as we work at 40 to 50 meters height. We ended up with the Saes team through our good relationship with Erwin Broens and are very pleased with the Saes service and their attachments."

Henk Saes notes that rental is playing an increasing role within their companies. "We naturally have a unique program of heavy equipment for demolition work, but notice that project-based hiring is also increasingly demanded in the middle segment. Italian VTN is therefore an ideal supplier for us. Good quality, reliable and affordable."

It is safe to say that Saes International BV can now serve the entire market from stock. "From VTN we have an extensive range of concrete crushers, small concrete shears and screening buckets in our package. The large concrete cutters from Epiroc complete the range upwards, with the combination cutters receiving plenty of attention. With Erkat, we supply cutters from small to large, suitable for underwater work. The Erkat ER3000 is currently leased for 4 months and doing its job in India. In Scotland, Ireland, Luxembourg and Germany, Saes is currently renting out Epiroc HB7000 demolition hammers," Henk Saes lists. "In addition to 3 Epiroc iron shears, you can now also find our LaBounty iron shears on demolition sites."

Big boys demand big quality brands

The fact that we have big quality brands in house makes us attractive to the big boys. Add to that the fact that we co-rent our own vibratory hammers and you have top equipment that excels in reliability and efficiency. Our service is the icing on the cake," Henk Saes continues. "And those who like to co-rent a machine can also come to us, for example, our Hitachi 870 with Epiroc HB10,000, Erkat ER5500 or the Epiroc Combination Shears CC6000."

Postponing investments means renting

For Henk Saes, it is clear that companies on projects are currently putting off major investments. "But projects go on and more are coming. Then additional hiring is the best option. We experience that main contractors tell their subcontractors that it is best to hire their equipment from us, which is a crowning of mutual trust. That's what we do it for, we see here that all the energy we put into our attachments and service as a Saes team is translated back into satisfied customers."
