German solidity in dragline bulkheads

Dragline bulkheads come in all shapes and sizes, but most importantly, in many levels of quality. Ko-Mats emphatically distinguishes itself with the production of high quality dragline bulkheads primarily in Azobé. That German solidity is not only in the material but also in the level of finishing. An interview with Mike Schong of Ko-Mats.

Ko-Mats is located just across the border in Bad Bentheim, Germany. "In our own production facility, we manufacture dragline bulkheads in lengths from 3 meters to 8 meters," says Mike. "We supply the bulkheads in three different thicknesses (100, 150 or 200 millimeters) and in a width of 1 meter. The wood we source through Dutch suppliers from Africa is certified and top quality Azobé. All standard sizes in our range are available from stock!"

Automated production
What is unique about Ko-Mats' production process is the fact that the dragline partitions are machined with a large milling cutter and produced fully automatically. Mike: "Even the pinch groove and the bevels at the ends are realized with the router. That just looks much neater. We deliver all our partitions nicely planed, such that there is no difference in thickness or length between them. The fact that we have an enormous stock also means that we can deliver very quickly. Certainly an advantage in the infra world, where the terrain can change considerably in a short time due to changing weather conditions."

In addition to selling dragline bulkheads, Ko-Mats also has a rental fleet for Germany in particular. "In the Benelux we supply our bulkheads mainly to pile driving and construction companies and also supply various rental companies. Transport for both purchase and rental is provided by regular partners. If necessary, they can also take care of loading and unloading."
