German drilling technology manufacturer opens sales office in Belgium

With a new sales office in Ternat, German drilling technology and machine manufacturer STDS-Jantz aims to serve the Benelux and French markets even better in the future. "We are also following the Danish market from Belgium, and our ultimate aim is to have a presence in the rest of Scandinavia as well," says Peter Jantz, Managing Director of STDS-Jantz.

STDS-Jantz is a German manufacturer, with a sister company in Scotland called N.U.B. Engineering. For more than 35 years, these companies have been developing high-quality drilling equipment, hydraulic drill motors, accessories for different types of substrates and, since a few years, complete machines. Earlier this year, STDS-Jantz opened a new sales office in Ternat, headed by Marnik Janssens. "I have been working as a representative at STDS-Jantz for over four years and before that I was employed at a dealer for them for 18 years. I worked from home for four years, but since a few months I have my own office in Ternat. Soon there will even be reinforcement."

Because STDS-Jantz has had its own representative for Benelux and France for several years, the customer base has expanded even further. Marnik Janssens: "Whereas I used to represent several brands, I can now focus on a few manufacturers whose equipment really belongs together. And that creates more customers. The same goes for the Betek range. Betek is a German manufacturer of wear parts and for the Benelux, STDS-Jantz is the exclusive importer. In Great Britain, the same applies to N.U.B. Engineering."

In addition to building its own machines, the company will of course continue to focus on parts in the future, such as this soil displacement drill and drill motor AD1800.

Scandinavia
With a base of operations in Belgium, STDS-Jantz is looking ahead. Further expansion towards Scandinavia is the goal. "After a site visit in Denmark for follow-up of delivered equipment, I came into direct contact with the Danish end-user who at that time was still served from our factory in Germany. But eventually Denmark ended up in my portfolio. By the way, Denmark is interesting in terms of subsoil. We can use both drilling systems produced in Germany and in Scotland, similar to France. In the Benelux, we sell almost exclusively German equipment because there is a lot of similarity with the drilling techniques used in Germany. We hope in the future to also serve the rest of Scandinavia from our Belgian office."

The German manufacturer recently showed its range of parts and machines at the Bauma fair in Munich and will also be present at the Matexpo fair in Kortrijk.

Machinery
Historically, STDS-Jantz has been a manufacturer of drilling equipment, but in recent years the German company has also been ogling the production of machinery. "Due to bankruptcies of some manufacturers, among other things, customers came to us with that question," clarified Managing Director Peter Jantz. "As a company, we have no choice but to jump on that bandwagon. We started with small drilling machines, but we are now evolving in the direction that is most important to us: foundation engineering. That is the sector of our main customers. Meanwhile, we make mini drilling and piling machines under the working name Premodrill."

In the future, STDS-Jantz will continue to focus on both parts and machines. Peter Jantz: "Ultimately, we just try to answer the customer's question as far as possible. As far as the machines are concerned, we are mainly aiming for smaller machines, perfect for use in places that are difficult to reach with large foundation machines. According to the trend in recent years, machines are only getting bigger. We don't play a role in that story, but we do, for example, in foundation work in a street with row houses or under bridges."

Bauma and Matexpo
STDS-Jantz just showed its range of parts and machines at the Bauma fair in Munich, and the German manufacturer will also be present at the Matexpo fair in Kortrijk (September). "What makes STDS-Jantz special is that everything is developed in-house in consultation with the end user who can largely put together his own machine. Our machines are sturdy, solid and user-friendly in terms of maintenance and repair," concludes Marnik Janssens.
