From loose piping to complete solutions

For almost a century, VandeGrijp Rental has been a trusted name in the rental of steel piping and vessels for the dredging sector and civil engineering. Where it once started with the simple rental of steel pipes, couplings and components, the company has now grown into a partner that fully relieves customers: from engineering and assembly to crane assistance and complete project support.

In addition to pipeline work, VandeGrijp Rental has an impressive fleet of split barges, hopper barges and other vessels.

The heart of the company still lies in the piping system. “We have an extensive ‘construction kit’ of steel pipes, bends, reducers and fitting pipes in various sizes,” says an enthusiastic Thijs van Hemert. The diameters start at 500 mm and go up to 1,000 mm, with lengths from 250 mm to 12 meters. “With this wide range, which is continuously renewed and maintained, virtually any piping configuration can be realized.”

Thinking along, designing and implementing

VandeGrijp Rental today goes much further than just delivering. “Customers, often pump lessors or contractors, increasingly need total solutions,” Thomas ten Hagen of VandeGrijp Rental knows. “Due to increasing personnel shortages and outflow of technical knowledge, they benefit from a partner who thinks, designs and implements. That is why today we offer the complete process: from engineering in 3D, thinking along about pipeline routes, assembly materials, crane assistance to even the realization of customized support structures and pipe bridges.”

According to Van Hemert, a striking example of such total decontamination is the project at the Polderbaan in Hoofddorp, where a sewer line over 7 kilometers had to be replaced after a major disaster. “We not only supplied the temporary bypass of two times 3.5 kilometers, but also provided the assembly and support, including the creation of specials, such as a pipe bridge over the water. Such projects show how broad and far we can go with our services.”

Versatile fleet

In addition to pipeline work, VandeGrijp Rental has an impressive fleet of split barges, hopper barges and other vessels. “It ranges from smaller barges for domestic projects to large, seaworthy ones deployed worldwide,” says Ten Hagen. With nine vessels in operation and two new ones under construction, the fleet is growing steadily with the market. “The vessels are built according to our own design, where we build in the hydraulic system together with a partner,” Van Hemert says. VandeGrijp Rental's fleet has a nice track record with deployment in the construction of the Terneuzen and IJmuiden locks, international dredging projects and long-term deployment in countries such as Denmark, Lithuania and the United Kingdom.

Short lines

According to both gentlemen, the strength of VandeGrijp Rental lies not only in its broad range and global applicability, but especially in its way of working. “Customers appreciate the short lines of communication, accessibility and thinking along from the first contact. No bureaucracy, no long processes: one phone call is enough to get everything arranged.”

With almost 100 years of experience, its own port in Papendrecht and a mentality of doing what you promise, VandeGrijp Rental continues to build long-term partnerships. Reliable equipment, clear agreements and total care; in solid terms.
