Grounding the plastic gully
BT Nyloplast gullies.

Founder of the plastic flume

As founder of the plastic gully and preferred supplier for the municipality of Katwijk and the surrounding area, the BT Nyloplast gully was included in the specifications for the expansion of the N206 ir. G. Tjalmaweg. The gully has undergone spectacular development over the past forty years and scores exceptionally well when it comes to sustainability and circularity. For example, it is produced locally in the Netherlands according to a unique process.

For the municipality of Katwijk we have been supplying our gullies in different sizes for many years, begins Arjan Heijdra of BT Nyloplast. "Because there is generally a lot of sand on the streets in this region, the 50 liter gullies with larger sand catchment (so fewer emptying moments) are usually chosen. This type was also prescribed in the specifications for the new Tjalma Road. Contractor Boskalis placed the order with us for 30 units of street gullies and 15 units of sidewalk gullies, both equipped with a cast iron top head and a standard cylindrical stench screen for the base."

Thermomolding

The BT Nyloplast gully is far from a standard gully, according to Heijdra. "We have been selling this gully very successfully for forty years. Through practical experience and consultation with municipalities, contractors and consultancies, the gully has been further optimized over the years. This has led to an impact-resistant PE bottom, a U3 recyclate base instead of a solid wall and a wide range of cast iron covers, filter systems, dirt collectors, ball joints and sand traps in various capacities. The gully is produced from standard pipe using the Thermomolding process, in which we heat the pipe in an oven and then use air pressure to form it in a mold. The standard pipe from U3 recyclate is supplied by our sister company DYKA in Steenwijk. U3 means that the inside and outside of the pipe consists of virgin material, while the core is composed of recycled plastic. This makes the product 40 percent recycled material, thus contributing to the sustainability aspect."

BT Nyloplast supplies a wide range of 'top heads'.

The BT Nyloplast gully is lightweight and therefore easy to adjust without lifting tools. "Our unique manufacturing process allows us to accommodate custom adjustments with little extra cost. For example, if a connection is designed 10 millimeters lower, this is not a problem for us. Although the outlet does have a standard free angle twist of 6 degrees, with a ball coupling we can increase the angle to around 15 degrees. So the BT Nyloplast gully is truly an extremely versatile product, produced locally at our location in 's-Gravendeel."
